It's no secret that Holland has the most liberal drug laws in the world, especially when it comes to cannabis. What you may not realize, however, is that these laws were enacted thanks to the efforts of the Dutch Provos. The Provos set the stage for the creation of the Merry Pranksters, Diggers, and Yippies. They were the first to combine non-violence and absurd humor to create social change. They created the first "Happenings" and "Be-Ins." They were also the first to actively campaign against marijuana prohibition. Even so, they remain relatively unknown outside of Holland. Now, for the first time, their true story is told.

It's too bad that laziness today can't have the same effect. The "dopes" don't even cherish their ability to laze enough to fight for it--to protest for it. Why can't this kind of thing get around to the people who really need it?

I must admit, when I first started reading this article, I didn't think it would carry the type of message that it does. I thought it just might have been an advertisement for escapism through pot, a demonstration that people honestly don't have any idea of what they want to do with their lives--but I was pleasantly surprised...^_^'

As soon as the Provo seemed to truly enter into the political arena, it didn't flounder. I suppose it can serve to prove in the idea that each portion of a revolution's development has its preordained length, stage, goal, etc. Either way, Provo achieved its goal...and it just goes to show...

Show what? Hahah...good article! Good message!
