I dreamed the other night that a woman disappeared in an old haunted hotel and that I and two other people were asked to investigate. It started like a movie clip. She was trying to leave and the hotel wouldn't let her, and it swallowed he up into the third basement level down when she tried to jump out a second floor window The hotel, aside from being old, didn't seem haunted, and had a lobby that had an appearance like that of the first class grand stairway section on the Titanic. One weird thing was that there was this Munsters like butler who called each of us individually to look around the hotel, and the strangest thing was that the hotel itself would only allow us to explore certain areas when it felt like letting us look around, such as certain guest rooms, the walk in freezer and refridgerator, the atrium in the back area, etc, but it would not allow anyone to the basement levels. If I tried to go into an area the hotel didn't want me in, it would close the door to that area. Also, if I tried to leave an area before it was ready to let me leave, same thing, the door would close, leaving me in that area.

    Weird, isn't it?

Thing is, even though I've never seen a movie with this exact plot line, some I have seen have similar story lines, such as Stephen King's Rose Red, (the house that could reconfigure itself) or The Shining (also by Stephen King), which happens to be a story about a haunted hotel, The Overlook.

i had a slightly simmilar dream that i wrot about on the old backwater bbs up in portland oregon, back before there was an internet. only in my dream i was in this burnt out part of a burnt out town. kind of a parallel universe sort of thing. and i was seeing this person at a window in a part of the building that wasn't all the time even there. like i was seeing in two different parallel universes at the same time. one in which this town had been devistated by some sort of incindiary attack and one in which it was whole and living, if still not exactly over populated.

on entering what looked from the outside to be a charred ruin, inside it appeared whole, as if whatever disaster had befallen the town, had never happened. although there were no staff personell. not to be seen about at all. but the elevators worked and all of the interior walls and decorations seemed to be perfectly intact.

i made my way to the room where i had seen this person. there was no one there. but in the usual hotel furnisings bed table, in the drawer with the usual gideon's and brochure of local attractions, also singed and charred almost beyond recognition, was a photograph of this girl, quite attractive, severyly burned and carbonized, the photo, not the person in it, along most of two sides and their corner.

leaving the building, now outside, once again the ruin i had first seen it. returning to my transportation, i felt a presence. she was there with us. there were several in the vehicule. we all saw her, as calm as real, asking us for a ride to take her away from there, although we could also see through her. well to make a long story short, we did give her a ride away from there, the further away we got the more solid she became. we let her off where she had become solid and wanted to. and that was all we ever learned of her or that place.

    =^^=
