that's exactly right...the pot is almost not the big problem here...possesion of a weapon and cocaine are. i got caught with pot at a football game, so i won't call you an idiot or anything, but i suspended 5 days, put into alternative school for 30 days, went to court and got put on probation for 6 months...this is all for a dimebag or so of pot. you've got pot, weapon, cocaine...you just better pray. be polite to everyone in the court system, it'll help you alot. you'll be going through the adult court system though, right?

well, maybe you shouldn't be engaging in illegal activities, let alone carrying around paraphenalia of such illegal activities on school grounds IG may be a bit of a jerk at times, but I agree with almost everything he's said in this thread. Smarten the fuck up, take some accoutnability for your actions. Be genuinely sorry and regretful, and maybe your sentencing will be a little bit lighter
dude don't fret too much. your future is not entirely fucked up. a very close friend of mine has about 10 convictions on his record and he is attending college right now. he is getting financial aide through the state we live in. you should look into that. granted you won't be able get federal aide IF you get convicted, but there is always state & local aide. if this is a first offense you might get off easy, you said you have a good relationshipw/ your teachers, see if you can get some of them to speak for you at your trial, sounds corny i know but it just might help if a judge hears your superiors speaking well of you. thats about all the input i have, puff safe & try to keep it away from school. as for them showing the pics on your phone to your mom, that sucks!!! peace & love to all (even IronGoth).
What a thread! Jared, don't stress too much. You can still get financial aid, and most colleges could care less if you smoke pot. I taught at the university level for more than a decade. This is not a big deal. You have to get the coke bit dismissed or plead down, but only the most ignorant think that pot is any worse than a beer. If i get to know you, i would write you a letter of recomendation. If you are a good student and a kind soul, i am sure that you can recruit many allies to help you get into college. Most likely, you will not have much of a problem. The ignorant tools that keep pot illegal do not have all that much power, becasue such a mindset requires very low intelligence. Universities are usually run by those who have a bit of a clue. Iron Goth is definitely being an ass and a naysayer. What a tool! laws should never define one's actions, especially in our current overthrown illegal government. Those with the most power are the biggest and most blatant criminals. Follow your inner guide! Screw the dominant paradigm! Be practical and safe, but never let ignorant tools tell you what is right just because some horrible law is on the books. Lets take this land back! that will not be done by following the rules laid down by those who ovthrew the dream of a free society. "Rid yourselves of mental slavery! None but ourselves can free our minds!" BOB Jim PS: TEH Horace, you seem like a good guy. Keep being you man!
snorting cocaine off a blade of a knife.. is going to sound great in court.. along with having a pipe and weed.. and lots of baggies.. hes also going to look like a dealer.. If you don't use the baggies why store them in your car? Alot of us have done stupid things before.. but seriously you should wise up
Don't be so harsh on Iron Goth... while he may deliver his message with the verbal equivalent of a sledgehammer, alot of what he says is pretty much right on the mark. I'm thinking that under the circumstances that "follow your inner guide" is pretty questionable in this case as the inner guide in question has demonstrated quite a degree of dubious judgement. Ignorant tools or not, the legal powers have this young man's life in their hands and emboldening him to take a disrespectful attitude at a time when he is preparing mentally to go before a judge might inspire a zealous prosecutor to throw the book at him & result in any further education being received behind bars. While I agree that most marijuana laws are unjust, I don't think that Jared is a good poster boy for legalization. In fact- in his case I would strongly recomment that he take a very extended break from the weed until he got his life in order- including but not limited to his current situation.
Might be some dumb ass, NeoCon law, but it is still not what the Constitution meant. I have kids in HS, I was the one to complain about the random locker searches, with DOGS, in the school. "But aren't you afraid of terrorists?" the NASCAR watching idiots would ask me. "No, not in a High School locker." (As "threat of terrorism" is what prompted the school to step up the random searches. ALthough our County Sheriff's police does not own Bomb Sniffing dogs, only Drug sniffing ones.) My dh and I talked about when someone on Hip Forums (a wise wise man) talked about filling a spray bottle with bong water and spraying it everywhere in the school to throw the dogs off, and then told our kids "NO, don't YOU do that." But, if the locker next to my kid contained either a kilo of weed or a bomb, I would much prefer the kilo to the bomb to be there. Yet, our county money was spent on training dogs to sniff out weed from teenagers, not firearms or bombs. Who ever commited a "terrorist act" with a bong? Yes. "hippies" complain about the government, but we often know what we are talkng about. Someone has to. Searches, without a warrant, on "private property" are still up for debate in Constitutional law at this moment. In fact, if it was a PUBLIC school, it was not "private property." No one should be denied an education because of a silly youthful indescretion. Yeah, it was dumb to hold other people's stash, (especially the coke) but this kid should't pay with the rest of his life.
You're only fucked for financial aid if they get a conviction bro, this is america, you get the right lawyer and you can get away with it... take it from someone who's done it. None of it matters man, every single thing you got caught with plus a lot more, a LOT more, happened here.. cops said shit on the report to fake reasonable cause of the last arrest like "they could see a huge amount of baggies, all over the floor," didn't make a difference. Try seven pipes, bags of soil, roaches everywhere, scale, questionable literature, on top of the actual fat sacks of jollies, EVEN had the knife like you bro... didn't matter. Good lawyer will either get the shit thrown out, or get you continued without a finding.
These would be the same teachers who narked him? I think you will also find that the new employment contracts have a tendency to say things like "no recommendations - employment or otherwise - we can get sued." WTF are you talking about? What you have to do in circumstances like this is wrap your head around reality. Look at it this way. 1) In Arab countries, if you steal they cut your hand off. 2) You don't WANT your hand cut off 3) Therefore, don't steal in an Arab country, or make five million percent sure you are never caught. What you DON'T do, if you have half a brain, is go around stealing, and then when caught claim that Mohammed was wrong, and that you're basically a peaceful and gentle soul. You'll return home being a head and a torso, carried around in a shopping bag. The same applies here. We have laws, for weal or for woe. You may believe they are wrong. There are PLENTY of laws I believe are utterly stupid, however I'm not really interested in derailing my life's overall plan by things like court dates, a record which precludes me from future employments, etc. Mind you, you might take the opposing tack. Both Jesus and Martin Luther King had messages they KNEW would bring death to them at an early age. Both chose to give up a peaceful death in bed of old age in order to do it, but neither whined about it. Choosing to stick your finger up at the law and society is fine. Just don't expect it to be there for you. Can't bite the government's hand and then whine it won't loan you money for college. Jared is a nice and good kid, perhaps booksmart (can't tell given spelling) but by God the boy has some issues with common sense. DING DING DING! Thank you! The way to complain about Constitutional abuses is in the courts and by getting people involved and motivated in electing someone who'll address this problem, not by bringing drugs into school and expecting it to be considered a Constitutional Protest.
I love this fight I love the stupidity I love that some of you are way over beginning of adult hood and still stupid enough to argue on the internet. I love that iron goth has gotten you all to cry like you were 5 and daddy was hitting you again. Lord lets have a parade.
Maggie... Its the same way at our school. In order to be able to drive to school you have to sign away your rights to let them search your car AND consent to have random drug tests or you will not be able to drive at school. They have brought a drug dog IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS one time and the teacher had to stop teaching so they could take the dog around and let him sniff our back packs... come on thats taking it to far... That was back in the 9th grade they havnt did that one again, though. Some teachers even encourage alcohol as long as its in moderation but if you smoke ganja around here you are consider the antichrist. This is the bible belt for ya...
Jobs only ask about felony convictions. I think illinois has pretty lenient herb laws, but I am more worried about the coke residue. Cocaine possession is a felony. Have they charged you yet? That really sucks about the federal aid man. Such bullshit.
Concealed: Buddy of mine in the 1980s was walking down the street and there had been a B&E in the area at the same time. They grabbed him and arrested him. They did not charge him, as he didn't do it. They arrested anyone in the area on suspicion. But...... In 2002 he was laid off, and had to leave the country back to Canada. Three kids, spouse and houseful of goods back at his mom's house. You can imagine the stress that put on his marraige. He finally got a job again in 2004. In Texas. So he goes to the border to apply for a visa. (No, there were no IT jobs he was good for in BC) They turn up his arrest. They tear up his job offer. They stamp his passport barring him from the USA for ten years. Is it legal? No, but you can't appeal the decision for like five or seven years. He's still jobless and living at his parents' place. And divorcing. MORAL: You never know what can come back and bite you in the ass. Don't invite more of it.
What the fuck Iron, is Jared Canadian now? Also, tell me, is breaking and entering a misdemeanor or felony arrest?
And boo fucking hoo about your friend. If he couldnt get his precious 9-5 IT job up there, then he should have found some other work. Just the thought of getting out of my moms again would motivate me to make money by other means.
