I'm sure that, with all that 60s garage rock explosion, almost everytown in North America had a garage rock band. And i am also sure that some of them have played reunion concerts and such.... so who was your hometown's garage rock hero? What compilations do they appear on? and have they reuinted for a concert?

I live in the North-east side of Indianapolis, so the Garage Rock great in that area would be Sir Winston and the Commons.... they have been featured in Back from the Grave vol 2. ("We're gonna love") and a few other places.

They re-united briefly in 2003 to perform for a local school's Alumni Association. (I didn't/couldn't catch it :()

I guess the main band around me was the James Gang, if you can even call them a garage band. I should look more into my area's '60s bands, though.

or alternatively, read all the liner notes on Garage Rock compilations.... Seaching for Shakes helps, too. And maybe there are local garage rock fan sites in your area/state, this site, for example has information on Garage Rock 45s from Indiana Bands

Hey, I just found out the Rats are from my home town. :D They've been featured on Back From the Grave Vol. 1 and Garage Kings. Plus, the Lemon Pipers are from my college town; I wonder if they went to this school. Thanks for the band search link, Ash.

    The Lime
    P.J. Orion & The Magnates
    The Panicks

garage bands (my generation) from towns I have dwelled within:I'm counting from early days, clubs of 600 and under.
I grew up in Texas, so we had lots. the worst of the lot made it big-- Pantera. I hated them then, hate them now hated the side projects
Norman Okla (college years but I was a REALLY non trad student): Flaming Lips. Met a few times nice guys. odd ducks.
    Denver /Boulder: SCI, YMSB
