and if you have a link that would be great. I'm looking for something with a decent price, but not 'cheap'. Can sergers be bought for around $200-$300? It needs to be fairly user friendly as I have never used a serger before (although I have been sewing for many years).

A lot of times you can get a floor model from a dealer. I got a really nice Babylock serger from a local fabric store for $299. It was marked down to $350 because it was a floor model then it went on sale for $299. :) I love it and have not had a problem since I learned how to thread it.

I would suggest staying away from anything made by White though. I have heard horror stories about them. They just aren't good machines.

Janome makes a great serger and so does Singer. It just depends on what kind of deal you can find. But yes if they are on sale or slightly used you can usually get them for less than 300 bucks.

I of course would tell you to shop around and be patient. You will find one for a good price eventually. Check often and feel free to ask the sewing machine ladies at the shops if there are any good deals on machines or if one that you like will be on sale soon.

Babylock is my suggestion for a good user friendly machine.

I have a cheap Brother serger and it's never given me any trouble and I'm hard on everything. It was around $80.00, but I have a $1000.00 janome sewing machine. The brother it easy to thread. There's a color coded chart right on the machine.

My wonderful man got me a serger for x-mas a Jamone from a "certified" Jamone dealer on e-bay. We checked out the same model at the local sewing machine store and saved about $250 buying it from e-bay, it was around $350. I love it!! I wish i had more time to use it right now.
