(copied from a news article) Scientists say they have found proof that humans have a sixth sense. A team at the University of Freiburg in Germany found that people could tell when someone was watching them. Dr Stefan Schmidt performed more than a thousand experiments involving two people in two different rooms. The first volunteer could see the other on a CCTV monitor. The second volunteer had no idea that he was being watched, but through electrodes attached to his skin the scientists found his skin "prickled" when he was being stared at. In another experiment, the starer tried to make the other person feel either uncomfortable or relaxed. The electronic monitoring proved that it could be done. The sixth sense was the theme of the hit film of the same name, starring Bruce Willis, about a boy with psychic powers. Most scientists have written off the idea of people having psychic powers, although some believe that prehistoric man had a sixth sense which enabled him to sense danger approaching before he could see or hear it. Previous experiments have found that your blood pressure can be increased when someone is concentrating on you, which might explain the saying that burning ears mean someone is talking about you.
Other than the dodgy statistics, there is a different between the 'being watched' effect and the whole '6th sense area'. This effect is the one that the evidence is best for, and it is still rather weak.
I totally believe in 6th sense! Everyone has it...or rather had it. Today in modern day living, most of us don't need to hut for our food, hut for places to live , and know the weather patterns etc,. So many of us loose it. I think my 6th sense comes from the fact that i regonise it and try to develope it more. I think people who don't have it, or use it, just can't understand it. I bet if people who didn't think they had a 6th sense, were in any kind of trouble. Their sense's would soon lead them out of trouble. Ive been lost many times, say on holiday or in a new area. But somehow, my 6th sense kicks in and i find a way home. I also use mine to get an instinct of a person. If i dislike someone on a first meeting. I usually find out their not the nicest of people to be around, and visa versa with a nice person.
Everyone has a 6th sense but its been so muddled that its barely recognizeable. Most of this technology is dulling the senses. Too many flashing lights and whatnot. And then the scientific community.....A quote seems to come to mind, "Science is nothing but an organized system of ignorance." I can't seem to remember who said it, might have been Einstein. If anyone can correct me please do
It is a FACT that humans only USE 10% of the brain. What does the rest of it do??? Loads of things we haven't learned about yet. Including communication.
The 6th sense. Learn it. Use it. Being a Medium myself (learning), I can tell you that the 6th sense is a very real thing. Even chatting with people on the internet (aim), I know when their is more then 1 person at the computer, or for that matter, if the person talking to me is really that person, when no evidence proving otherwise has been given out. It just "feels" like it. Your sixth sense is most alive when you are asleep. Relaxation, a clear head are what is required to harness it. Only through work and practice. and If I am to be lieing? Hardly. If I am making up such a story, WHY is it when I look at a picture of a 12 year old girl that someone posted up. I sense an insane amount of energy, and tears come to my eyes. Something was in the picture with her. Something that cannot be seen. Any other picture I get no reaction to. You all know how it is part of you as well. Music for instance. You are driving along the road and zoning and you start singinga song, or a song pops into your head. Next thing you know, the song is playing on the radio. This is just another method of "tuning" into the use of your 6th sense, its just more of a reflex action, rather then being purposeful. My dreams these days very rarly tell of fantasies and things, but of what is to come in the future. Usually they dont predict any more then a week though. It is something I need to work on
It is *not* a fact that we use 10% of our brain, it is a commonly mentioned myth. Only about 10% is active at any one time, over time we use the whole brain.
Oh sorry to break up the party guys and get all mumbo jumbo (I really am sorry) but we have always had a sixth sense. (I speak as a qualified Social Scientist). It is a common mistake to believe that we only have five we have always had six, the sixth is known as Kinaeshtesia or proprophobia. It is the ability to know where all of your limbs are and the tension in your muscles at any given time. You know without looking where your left leg is Don't you? (Or did you have to look?) lol. It has always been a common mistake to say we have 5 senses we have 6. Any more would mean 7. Love Ben xxx
Ben — quite right! We do have six senses. But the phrase "sixth sense" commonly refers to an additional sense that is not scientifically understood. Still, well pointed out.
"You all know how it is part of you as well. Music for instance. You are driving along the road and zoning and you start singinga song, or a song pops into your head. Next thing you know, the song is playing on the radio." Thats called coincidence. By chance, there are bound to be such coincidences in ones life. These coincidences are interesting, so you remember them. You don't bother to remember the 99.9% of the time that coincidences are not occuring, because there is nothing interesting about those times. Some people remember all of these coincidences and think they have this sixth sense.
from what ive read and learned in psychology, that other 90 percent is not unknown entirely. apparently it is sort of like a vast intrinsic communication network that links the different parts of the brain and figures out how to connect current events with past memories, smells with feelings, etc.
More people need to realise that we don't only use 10% of the brain. And someone else said, "Only about 10% is active at any one time, over time we use the whole brain." Not true either. We use around 20-30% at one time. But, you are correct, through our lives, we use all of our brain.
So i have these coincidences, lets say, 10 times in a row? Hmm I think not. Believe what you want, I know what is real though. As Is, I do not try to press on you what I can and can't do, I just say what I can or can't do. Its a simple matter of fact that energy is all around us, and to tune your body into it my friend, that is, where you are no longer blinded by the world, and maybe, just maybe, you will see the truth.
I always find it very disappointing that a sixth sense debate (or seventh sence debate according to Bend) always comes down to some people pledging that they can actually 'feel' of predict the future. Now, as a matter of principle I don't give much attention to this Mumbo Jumbo for as gEo_tehaD_returns pointed out this basically comes down to coincidence and people having a selective memory. I don't feel the need to debate the existence of a sixth or seventh sense. I do however feel the need to point out what a sense is. A sense is the ability of an animal (lets rule out plants for the moment) to process information about the world around him that is contained in several natural phenomena. For instance sight is the ability to catch and interpret light signals. Non-human senses also adhere to this. Magnetoception as pointed out by shaggie is the ability to detect fluctuations in magnetic fields. Note however that you can only sense in the presence. Before you can see a traffic light turning green it actually has to turn green. You can't hear the school bell ring before it is actually time to go home and the principle pushes the damn button. It is thus not possible to get information about events that still have to take place and not yet have had any actual effects in the presence and call this one of your senses. Therefore it is not possible for a certain radio song to magically pop up in your head before the DJ has even decided to play it. When this does happen it is what gEo_tehaD_returns says it is: a coincidence.
Like I said, believe what you want. and It's as "predicting" the future. you get signs as to what might happen. It comes through in a form that is sometimes hard to distinguish. Thus why sometimes readings get extremly far off (or their just fake) But regardless I am done here. I have no need to push this issue any farther.
that's a myth. edit: taken from snopes.com 1) Brain imaging research techniques such as PET scans (positron emission tomography) and fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) clearly show that the vast majority of the brain does not lie fallow. Indeed, although certain minor functions may use only a small part of the brain at one time, any sufficiently complex set of activities or thought patterns will indeed use many parts of the brain. Just as people don't use all of their muscle groups at one time, they also don't use all of their brain at once. For any given activity, such as eating, watching television, making love, or reading, you may use a few specific parts of your brain. Over the course of a whole day, however, just about all of the brain is used at one time or another.
