I plan on growing in a closet (my sister's condo's closet) it's about 5 feet by 5 feet and about 8 or so tall

Anyway, I don't plan on selling any pot or anything like that, I just want some nice buds for personal use

But the thing is, I have no problem spending 200 on the whole HPS setup and such, but I'm afraid it would jack up her electricity bill/be a pain in the ass to setup

I was wondering, I already have a lightbulb socket thing on like a 10 foot cord, so my question is...

Could I just buy a HPS light (one of the standalone ones without the reflector or some other type of growlight that connects into a standard light socket) and connect it in there without the ballast and all that? Or would that burn down the place?

    Thanks...

Oh, and also because if my parents were to visit my sister, it'd be a lot easier to temporarily hide a cord and light instead of a big ass reflective hood etc etc and because we may get some awkward looks carrying that upstairs as well

Basically, I don't need to be told, "It'd be worth it to get the whole unit" I just need to know if it'd be possible/even work to do it this way

Or maybe even if the ballast is required, that, the cords and the light without the hood would be the other option

    The room is pure white

well, fuck...I looked up the prices of ballasts just by themselves and they're more expensive than if I just bought a kit with the ballast, light, reflector and all...wtf? haha

Absolutely, but get a hps not a mh and make it a 430 watt..To be honest, spend your money on quality equipment, that light is as cheap as its cost.People dont relize those cheap lites like that have shitty hoods making for for poor diffusion of light as well as the bottom of the barrel component in the ballists.I recommend to ya to spend another $50-100 and get a sun systems light, well worth it and they use high heat capacitors in the ballists as well as spending a ton ton of money on researching the the effectiveness of their products.Built to last and perform are sun systems products. A 250 watt hps will serve you well for 3 plants.

How heavy are these systems usually? I'm only asking because I want to know if it's neccessary to buy their hanging systems or if I just just rig one myself...

Your hood will weigh 10-15lbs and ballists are 20-30lbs.For $5-10 bucks you can hit homedepot and put something together for the hanging.

Welcome to the world of cheap bastards, where everyone with a product people want jacks thier prices up as high as they can....if the whole setup cost them 10-15 bucks to built if that....makes me wonder why the hell Im spending all this mioney on clothes....

or atleast I think that, perhaps it costs a bit more?
