sorry Iraq was a threat to the United States, where do you get that crap from, could you tell me how there was a threat. once the president realised there was no threat he changed his stance to making freedom and democracy the main reason.
you see it is selfish individuals such as yourself who stop the world progressing, 'ooooh i only care about historic territory borders and what is inside them'. its a genocide dude, should we have stopped Hitler, according to you- we shouldn't have. glad a human life means so much to you.

We've been giving money and aid to countries in desperate situations for years. But, look at New Orleans, How much money did those countries give back for us. Probably very little. So, we should dedicate the money that we are giving to other countries to help them, which we will never get back, and use it to fix the shit that's wrong here.

the whole point of giving money to countries is because, usually, they are impoverished and cannot pay for necessities themselves. i guess you're unaware that in the aftermath of hurricane katrina, many extremely poor countries offered what little they had to america:

-- Bangladesh donated $1 million (USD) and sent both disaster management experts and medical personnel to help

-- Kuwait donated $500 million (USD) worth of oil and medical aid

-- Nigeria pledged $1 million (USD) to disaster relief

-- Cuba offered to send over 2,000 doctors and emergency personnel to help victims

and as far as fixing problems here, i think that genocide is just a little more severe than most issues in America.

I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this..but its important.

The US called whats happening in Darfur Genocide. I believe the only other country that agreed with us was Australia. IF the world listened to us, troops would have been sent in IMMEDIATELY to stop this. Instead, the rest of the world decided to thumb their nose at George Bush and America with the result being innocent africans have died.

Blame the rest of the world. The US has called this genocide.

That still doesn't change the fact that the problem is in Sudan, and we are in America. We don't need to bail people out every time something in their country goes wrong.

so what you needed the worlds agreement, like with Iraq? me personally do not blame this on one state or another, its a global problem, and it shouldn't be down to one state in particular to deal with a problem. but if certain states act like the worlds policemen when it suits them, people will get a little pissed off with them, see how that works?

yes but not everybody thinks the same way as you, some people see all humans as lives, and do not put one state ahead of anotherm of course in the current international system of nation states this is quite difficult, but we will never evolve if we continue to think as so. some people can picture a 'global village' in the future where life is life. why should you care for somebody the other side of America?? its a long way away?

Considering our army is well overextened? yes. We would need the world's agreement to go in.

If you havent noticed, we're having a hard time keeping control(if we can even call it that) in Afghanistan and Iraq. You really think we should try and occupy a third country to stop the violence!? That would require a world wide effort. We tried to put that in motion. The UN. The EU and others were reluctant.

p.s. how did somalia and kosovo suit us?

Saddam tried to assasinate one of our presidents, he did not like us very much

if you wanna bitch about me being selfish, why don't you give all your money to the relief effort?

sorry this was a long time in the past, right, and that wasn't a threat right then and there when the war started, and that was never given as reasoning for war. please a better reason than that. an attmept a while ago on a president is no reason to attack a country

i see many things in the world that deserve my charity and i do give to them as much as i can, as i am a Uni student and in debt i cannot give that much, but i give what i can to these organizations who i deem help. peacex

whose fault is it that your army is overextended? i have never once said that you should try such a thing, i think other states should, i am not one to blame the US for everything. i do not know much of the effort from the US to stop the violence, could you show me the details as i havn't read about that at all

the world started to change at around kosovo time where humanitarian intervention kicked in, but pre- 9-11 your administration at the moment changed the system of international relations, it changed the way the world was going

i can't believe that even on the so-called "hippy" forum, there's so much ignorance and hatred.

and malachi35: it's definitely a little contradictory to say that we shouldn't help because during hurricane katrina, you felt that the international community didn't do anything for the united states, yet you then go on to say that: "we don't need to bail out other countries every time something goes wrong." right.

thank you to brothwood for actually understanding

What I'm saying is that we give money to outside countries all of the time, but that money hardly ever comes back to us. But, we had a huge disaster this year, so, I think this year, the money that would be sent out for humanitarian reasons should be spent in the US for huminatarian reasons.

it was, but there was suspicion of them making weapons, and because of the UN, we will probably never know if they were or not

and I'm sure you give as much as you can

We can only deal with the situation as it is present..not as we wish. Obviously, we would be able to accomplish more without our military being overextened. That is our fault.

BTW, your country is guilty of the same as the US as far as iraq goes ;)

In july 2004 congress called the situation in darfur a genocide

    http://usinfo.state.gov/is/Archive/2004/Jul/26-233176.html

here is a nice sum up:

    for example?

sorry can you give evidence of this at all, or did you hear it somewhere and like to re quote it. i prefer to look up things first before i pretend i have knowledge of that. could you show me where the attack on iraq war was key to a presidential target, not just a side comment said by somebody, but used in reasoning, say at the UN or something.

so the UN helped them get rid of there weapons, seriously? i'm sorry i fail to see any evidence what so ever, saying Iraq possesed weapons of mass destruction. there has been no evidense since, so it aws a quick clean up job if there were.

and please do not judge me before you make rash decisions, because i don't post things just to justify my personal beliefs, i do give as much as i can. as i am student of course this isn't much, do you want to see my direct debit i pay out, you are right it probably isn't all of it, but unfortunately i ahve to pay for rent, food etc.

yes my country was as guilty, i do not try and defend that, i live in a democracy, i didn't vote for Blair, but accepted him and disagree with a lot of what he does, such as the Iraq war. people need to stop seeing themself being attacked when somebody says something against their state.

For example- Iraq, was totally against the direction the international community had gone, Afghanistan and Iraq changed the international world. it became humanitarian intervention as the only real reason for western states to enter warfare, untill 911 when it became pick some reason, lie to the public, and do it for what ever reason as long as you have the power not to be stopped.

they did not mean to help, but they did
and how can you call it quick? MONTHS went by between US asking for the UN to back an invasion and the actual invasion after UN did their "inspection" they were only allowed in main halls, how the fuck good can you inspect a building from the main hallways?

yes you are right, the middle east is totally more stable.
i presume you have given up on the idea of giving evidence for your claims as i asked, and now bringing up a whole 'just main halls idea', i am guessing you heard this or read it and just accepted it as it fitted with your belief of the invasion. again a little more evidence then your statements needed
