In light of Denver's new ray of hope for MJ activism, I'd like to start off a thread discussing ways YOU AND I can help and prolong the life of the current legalization movement. Please post your ideas here, if you've got any.

I suggest educating the public through the media, such as newspapers, posters, and billboards. Posters/flyers would be relatively easy to put up, especially if you can run-off a bunch of copies.

I'd also like to see more pro-MJ articles in scientific and medical magazines and journals. Perhaps we could email scientists and doctors and persuade them to encourage citizens to think about the positive effects of THC.

yea man u try doing that when u live on the bible belt. i live in geogia and if we were to put up flyers about that kinda stuff, all we would do is piss off a bunch of rednecks. what can us southern potheads do to spread the word, without pissen off ppl with guns. im not sayin i live in a redneck town but theres just too many small towns in the south that all think its a sin to smoke weed.
    wut do u suggest there/

Yeah the plan looks good on paper, but in real... who is gonna pay for all these billboards, flyers, newspaper ads, and TV ads.... hmm? And your only thinking about the people that will be posativly affected by these things, and not the consequences from the people who dont agree (can cause protests, councel meetings, negative TV recognition, etc)... think this through before hand

Yeah man I'm going to start spreading the word in January. I'll be putting up flyers and whatnot in Chapel Hill and Durham, NC. Chapel Hill seems like the best place around to form this movement. Hopefully what I do will catch on with other mj supporters.

All the small towns I've ever been to don't think it's a sin to smoke weed...actually they all feel their town is so small and boring that they have nothing better to do THAN smoke weed haha

after seeing an anti-abortion or pro-war bumper sticker, do you sympathize with those sentiments any more than you would have before? because personally, they just annoy the fuck out of me. what would make a pro-marijuana bumper sticker any more effective or helpful to the cause you believe in? such things are more trouble than they're worth, because whether its legal cause to pull you over or not, you WILL very likely notice a large increase in the frequency with which you're pulled over.

sure, it's legal to put it on your car...doesnt mean you won't still get fucked for doing so, though, and more likely than not it will not change anybody's mind.

my car is ridden with eco stickers, anti bush stickers, pro legalization of pot stickers, anti-christian stickers (even tho, I don't necessarily hate christianity, just the way it's come to play into our government so much), anti-alcohol stickers, and hundreds of others...it really looks crazy. I haven't been pulled over in several months, I'm a really careful driver, though. I have one of those new electric synergy cars, but, I'm thinking of taking all the stickers off, and selling it. We have city buses here in Austin, so, I'm thinking about just using them. Much more eco-friendly.

Well of course there would be negative effects, I mean, there are always going to be negative effects when you try to change something. Think about the women's rights and african american's rights movements. People died because they wanted to change things. And you're worried that some people might be offended and get pissed off. If all people had the mentality that they could never change things because of neagative repercussions then we'd still be living in a world with opressed women's and black's rights and who knows what else because everyone would be too scared to do anything about it.

And those are the places that need our support and effort the most. We don't need to change the minds of the ones who already agree with us--only the ones that don't.

Man, some people are so opinionated and negative!

Everything you do that is positive, not a dumb stupid stoner thing, helps us advance the cause of freedom of choice, which is what the marijuana and hemp movements are about. I am no expert, but I AM the executive director of the largest marijuana protestival ever to grace the Earth, and I was the 2001 High Times Freedom Fighter of the Year, among other things.

My car has bumper stickers all over it and the sky has not fallen yet.

You wanna legalize weed? You want hemp? You want medical marijuana?

Then learn the facts, educate yourself, get informed so you can go out and be an ambassador for reform. If you don't know the facts (like many of the more juvenile keyboard commandos who post their jibberish in forums with their pocketbook opinions) don't try to make an argument. You will only make things harder for us.

These links will tell you what you need to know. Please study them, learn the truth, and tell your parents, teachers, priest, neighbors, friends, tell everyone. We are slowly winning, but too many people are still becoming martyrs.

There will always be people who tell you it cannot be done, it is a waste of time, yadda yadda, ignore the living fuck out them, and gently push them outta your way.

Activists do not wait for permission from anyone before they set out the change the world for the better.

Above all, if you want to help, DON'T ABUSE POT, respect it, use it wisely, and understand it is a sacrament.

Toke it easy, and stay positive despite the assholes!

from canada we will sweep the world by strom.

when we have gathered more supporting countries than Bush could for the war, we will take over the beast itself and then probably be killed and forgotten for thirty years and made heros then
