I've been seeing alot of this one truth commercial (the anti-drug teen ones) where this girl is with her friend but they don't do anything anymore because she's always high. The girls friend is explaining to this guy that they used to have a lot of fun before her friend smoked, now they don't do anything. The girl who smokes dosn't say anything and she's all flat and shit from the "pressure" i guess. I honestly hate these commercials because they just emphasize the steriotypical negative qualities of a pothead. They can just stick all that crap up their fuckin ass cause i have never met someone who gets stoned and just sits there and does nothing. Everyone i kno gets blazed so they can do things in a different perspective, not so they can just be lazy. Weed brings out your creative side and makes u wanna do things. I love to snowboard when i'm blazed, and other people like to do artistic things. So i don't think truth advertising should make everyone who smokes look like a bum. They need to get their facts straight before making an anti-drug commercial, not just go by what they heard or where told in school!!!!!
smoking fo me has made me if anything more social, i met new ppl , got sum good connects 15$-8th lol and did a little dealing on the side not 2 mention all the stoner chicks i met its only getting better
Alright, honestly.. I don't normally boast about all of the things I do with my time.. but in this case, I think it will illustrate a point. I'm a senior in high school, I take 5 AP classes (thus tons of homework, as well), I'm in the top 10% of my class, I play flute and piccolo in my school band AND I'm the sole assistant conductor, I'm a dancer, I run two seasons of track, I have a 20-hour-a-week job, and I'm a Peer Leader and Peer Mediator. I'm also an aspiring writer in the middle of writing two different novels. Lazy? Of course not. Oh, yeah, and I smoke weed.
"truth" commercials are poorly done, non factual propaganda invented by the neo-fascists to make young adults and teens fall in line with government policy. the scary thing is, a few people actually believe it!(i assume) oh and happyness first, how do you find time to do all that shit? do you sleep?
people claim that "truth" should more appropriately be named "myth" yet many of the same people contest in a different context that all "myth" is usually somewhat based in "truth" i'd say these commercials are, as has been accused, poorly done, overly melodramatic, and generally geared towards Fears rather than Facts...... however, while i have not seen this clip you folks are discussing, i have to say i find it rediculous to claim there are no negatives to pot and that while it may work off of many stereotypes, most stereotypes come from statistically relevant tendencies..... you honestly say you have never met anybody who doesn't do anything because they're stoned all the time? i know people who dont pay their rent or pass any of their university classes because they're stoned all the time. i know people who dont have jobs because they're stoned all the time. i know people who have fucked themselves up VERY badly because they're stoned all the time. not necessarily any other drug.....they're just STONED all the time. personally, i have asocial/reclusive tendencies when i'm stoned a lot. i dont generally get "stupid" but i do notice a "difference" when i smoke copious amounts of cannabis. stupid? no. "spacey"? yes. do i believe a 3rd person perspective would garauntee the ability to tell the difference between the two gauged from my behavior? no. while marijuana by no means garauntees that it will make you stupid, or any other drug for that matter, i have noticed in my personal experience that STUPID PEOPLE tend to be more prone to DOING drugs. i've noticed also that certain drugs, marijuana included, can lead many people to behaving/living in ways that other people perceive as stupid/wasteful. furthermore i've noticed that while there are many myths and stereotypes regarding marijuana users, as is the case with most other myths and stereotypes there is some truth really deep down in there. these ads are rediculous and the points they try to make are often irrelevant. but they are not ENTIRELY untrue...... just because a few smokers are extraordinary and many are average, does not mean there are not also a majority of potheads that are losers. i know MORE than my fair share. as a famous stand-up once said "its not that i mind getting high, it's that i mind who i had to get high WITH" if i had a nickel every time i secretly thought to myself "gee, i wish i were getting stoned alone rather than with this jackass" i'd be one rich son of a bitch. but alas..... EDIT: yeah...umm...i've enjoyed one or two (or three) libations of a spirited nature in the past half hour, so if any of this doesnt make sense...fuck you, i'll fix it tommorrow
i agree with nesta. pot has both is positive effects and negative effects. for a while, i got extremely lazy and let my grades completely slip from a's and b's to d's and f's. the thing is, there is exceptions to all of this and marijuana affects us all a bit differently. some of us may be playing piccolo in the band and being peer mediators while others spend there time watching television and eating junk food.
I'm a devout Christian, a college student, play tuba in the symphonic band, which I haven't played in five years, getting good grades, not great, but ones I'm satisfied with, 2.7 GPA, will be officially starting the Music Technology program next year so I can work at a record label or in the radio biz, and I smoke a lot of weed. I'm a good person, I try my best at least, I help wasted friends walk home, like tonight, while he is passed out on my floor, I'm going to go smoke a bowl and go to sleep.
i stick to me belief that both pro and anti weed factions must simply recognise factually BOTH positives and negatives, for without recognising both, then neither mean anything. weed can and does make lots of people lazy and unmotivated, and yeh its often those who were dumb or lazy to start with, but in the end, it affects some people, and these people cant be helped if all oppinions are 'its bad' or 'its good'. only be helped by accepting the fact about cannabis in order to find ways of overcoming the detrimental effects of cannabis and enhancing the positive ones
it's also important to note that everyone acts their own way. Meaning, if somebody site around stoned all day and does nothing, there's many many many more drug/alcohol abstinent people who are just lazy, boring, etc.. Therefore, it's not right for them to put labels on groups of people. But the weird thing is that on the other hand, most of the people i got high with not only would hang out with me only if we had weed and only to smoke weed, but also scammed me (pinching, robbing, etc) in the end.. perhaps i wasn't looking hard enough. So i guess the arguement goes both ways.
