with "normal" psychedelics a very small percentage of heavy/formerly extensive users (which is a VERY small part of the total population to begin with) experience some level of "flashbacks." these are not well understood and because of this many myths have grown around them such as drugs being stored in spinal fluid and all sorts of other untrue tales.... we don't know exactly what they are, but they do seem to be real to at least some extent, and they do seem to be different for most everyone that has them. a "flashback" is almost never feeling EXACTLY like you're on a strong dose of something though, more of a mindstate or a slight and brief mental or visual shift in your environment. at least, these are with your average psychedelics. DXM abuse in such volume is a relatively new phenomenon taking off within the past 10-15 years. until recently it wasn't generally widespread enough or even recognized enough to do any kind of legitimate studies on it. the closest drugs we know much about to DXM would be ketamine and PCP, both of which are shrouded in mystery and myth due largely to rising in popularity AFTER the initiation of the "drug war." i wouldn't rule out the possibility of flashbacks from DXM, but i wouldnt imagine there would be nearly as much evidence for it's existance, either. so it may be because it doesnt happen often, or because theres not been enough research. information regarding DXM's long term effects seems to be constantly changing as we learn "more" about it and it's abuse. i would say just take it easy and you shouldnt have a huge concern.
