If you want to indulge in chips on occasion, they make baked varieties instead of the traditional fried. They are much better for you, and I think they taste just as good, if not better in my opinion.

Pretzels are a good option as they are very low in fat. I like to dip whole wheat honey pretzel sticks in reduced-fat peanut butter. Good stuff!

Another munchie food is to take baked tortilla chips, layer them with fat-free refried beans, green onions, jalapeno pepper slices, sliced black olives, and reduced-fat cheese, pop them into the oven and bake until the cheese melts. Yummy!

Also, try taking some Triscuits (which are made from 100% whole wheat), top them with a teaspoon of pizza sauce, and then sprinkle some reduced-fat mozzarella cheese on top. Put them into the microwave just until the cheese begins to melt.

Baked pierogies are pretty darn good too. Just take some frozen cheese and potato mini pierogies (which are low in fat), spray them with a little bit of butter flavored cooking spray, and bake in the oven until "crisp". Then use some salsa and/or fat-free sour cream for dipping.

I like to make my own hummus in my kick-butt blender. Sometimes I make black bean hummus or sometimes the traditional white bean. If you want a recipe, I will be glad to give you one. :) I use either baked tortilla chips (many times I make my own from soft tortillas, you can find a wide variety of flavored tortillas for something new to try) or pita wedges for dipping.

One of my kids' favorites are when I make baked cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips. I take soft whole wheat tortillas, slice them into triangles, spray both sides with a little bit of butter-flavored fat-free cooking spray, and then I combine some white granulated sugar with ground cinnamon, and sprinkle over the tortillas. I bake them in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until they're just lightly toasted. You have to keep a close eye on them because they brown up quickly.

ooooh, black bean hummus sounds terribly good! If you don't mind giving me that recipe, I'd be mighty appreciative :D

when I snack, it's usually on crackers or crackers and cheese. They're just so hand... triscuits with cheddar melted on top is deeeelicious (they stay nice and crispy even through the microwave). Mixed nuts is a good option too, all proteinalicious and really easy to deal with

    Sure thing!

    1 clove garlic
1 (15 ounce) can black beans; drain and reserve liquid
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
    3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Add all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender. Add the reserved liquid from the drained black beans as necessary to make the mixture smooth. You'll need to scrap the sides of the bowl in between to make sure you get all of the ingredients well blended.

Put in a bowl, sprinkle some paprika on top, and serve with toasted pita bread of tortilla chips. Refrigerate any leftovers. :)

Dried fruit and nuts are really good. Like right now, I have a bowl on my desk that has almonds, dried cranberries, dried papaya, and raisins in it. So yummy, can't keep my hands off of it.
Also, Greek yoghurt and some honey is delicious. Or natural yoghurt and some nuts mixed in it. Yumyum.

I have a can of those in the cabinet right now. I've eaten them before, but they're not really something I can eat often.

Pita chips are good. I like clear nad natural flavored water also. There are plenty of things made with splinda that taste really good. Some rice cakes taste good also.
