Has anyone ever taken some DXM and just layed down and put on an African tribal drumming recording? I think I'm going to try it in the next few nights or so, for some reason, I think it would really enhance the experience. I also want to experiment with some recordings of zen meditation music, I'm thinking it'd help me have a really good trip by maybe calming me down alot when the DXM is taking effect. Could what I'm listening to determine alot about how my trip is going to turn out?
I used to take a lot of DXM, something I've come to regret later. It's not worth the hype you tell yourself it is. If you're just experimenting, great. If you're more serious, watch out. Either way, end your association with DXM as soon as you can. That disclaimer out of the way, music can totally direct your trip. To an extent. I find that anything energetic (e.g. rock music, tribal drums) can pump the trip up nicely and get your blood flowing and get you excited. However, trying to use music to mellow you out can get really frustrating on DXM. It doesn't really break through to you, and it can be more frustrating than anything else. Something upbeat and energizing is the best way to go. To calm down during the trip, other outside influences are needed. A bowl or two, or just a cigarette can help pull you back a bit. Anything to just refocus you in silence will help. Just a walk in the cold can calm you down during a DXM trip. But really, DXM seems fun at first, but it's really just a cheap trip that's best left to junior high kids who can't find anything better. And even they shouldn't fuck with it.
Well, I can definitely get other drugs, but I was curious about if for a while and have done alot of research so I decided to experiment. What experiences have you had that have turned you so against it?
ive only used it three times before so i havnt noticed anythign but the general consensus is if you are a regular user you will end up with permanent irreversible mental slowness. Just knock a dozen or so off your IQ, problem solving, memory, communication skill etc
Depends on the tribe and the drumming. Is it funeral music, recreational dance music? A lot of West African rhythms are strange time signatures: 12/8 if I remember correctly, but they're still familiar cause they've carried into Western Music.
The first time I did a really high dose of DXM my trip sitter put on African drumming, and it was amazing. I don't know how anyone can say music is distracting on DXM, I think it is essential and the greatest it will ever sound.
any music where percussion is a big part is amazing on dxm. drum n bass music can be intense. but i agree Tsubasa people hype up Dxm to be a deep spiritual tool, but it definately didnt have those vibes for me. just bump some K.
fuckin love tribal percussion dude, at gathering of the vibes they have a huge ass tent filled with drummers and they jam for a good part of the night, shit is awesome.
Yeah, I wouldn't consider the DXM experience anything spiritual or atleast it wasn't for me. I've stopped doing DXM after about 4 times. I didn't find music distracting at all, it was actual quite nice. I think live drumming would be a hell of alot better, but isn't all music better live? I turned on some drumming during an experience and it wasn't anything great but it was alright.
