All I've seen so far is how to create big grow rooms and massive crops and whatnot, but all I want to do is grow for myself, and maybe pass some goods off to a friend or two. How much can I get away with as far as skipping all the ventilation systems and irrigation systems and all these things? Can I just grow a plant out of a pot under a light? I just want my own private stash, I don't want to become a druglord, know what I mean?

No matter if you're growing for just yourself or the U.S. Army, the goals are the same.

One of the goals is to grow as efficiently as possible.

-Ventilation: marijuana ( & all plants) "eat" CO2, which is in the air. When the CO2 in a certain area (like a grow room) is exhausted, growth ceases.
-Lighting: The better the light, the more you'll grow. The higher the wattage (up to 6000 lumens per sq/ft) the better pot you'll have.
-You don't need an irrigation system if you're growing in soil.

One thing you'll need, however is a grow book. Read one (or even better, two). Many are available on-line ABSOLUTELY FREE.
It can guide you step-by-step, tell you everything you'll need to know to grow the best pot in the shortest time for the least amt. of $$$.
People grow pot with no knowldege and crappy lights, lousy ventilation and poor nutrition.
They're the ones that fail, or end up spending 6 months for a few handfulls of low-potency weed that tastes like hay.

Which guy do you want to be?

ranger can you please post some links of some online grow books that are accurate? I always come across shitty ones that claim stupid crap and tell me to bury my weed.

Anything by Ed Rosenthal is good.
