I just want to say the amount of news coverage ive seen regarding the ABC news caster and camera man who were recently injurned by a road side bomb in Iraq has made me sick. It is just another great example of the way in which this society idolizes celberites. Why is it I have to look to the thrid or fourth page of the USA today to find anyting on the number of troops injured or killed on the same day but this story has dominated headlines. Do you beilve this is a obtuse point of view? Is this man deserving of the attention more so then our troops?
They don't deserve any type of coverage, they shouldn't have been there, they weren't contributing anything to the effort, just getting in the way. The only thing they helped is that the bomb they triggered won't affect the troops.
Yeah...alright. the US doesn't need any coverage of the war. No need for the media to hold the military accountable like it often does. We shouldn't have had the media in Vietnam, Korea, or WW2. Fuck the media. Face it, any celebrity dying or close to IS news....why because people care. Does that make them more important than us just because they are famous. Yes, it fucking does.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be held accountable, but if the reporter, who is in a war zone gets hurt or killed, it's their own fault. I would feel bad if there were different circumstances, like he was in his hotel room and was shot by crossfire, but bein on the battle field is asking for trouble.
The vast amount of people who want to know. Face it, people want to know what has happend to the famous people they like. Even the famous people they don't like.

Of course it their fault. But that doesn't make it any less news worthy that they did get hurt. In addition it is not an very logically sounds argument for elminating media in wartime situations.
I think its dumb that the news caster over there who got hurt, not helping the fight in any way gets lots of news coverage. But the guys who are devoting their time in the war don't get that much coverage.
I personally think the news reporters do a great job in covering the war and I do think its worth printing when one of them dies whilst on duty. If you don't think its news you want to read don't read it. News reporters do a very important job.
