how many of you think weed damages your permenantly brain in some way? i've read alot of articles that say it only 'tickles' the brain, but when i smoke a lot i feel dumber...and i've never took a big break, so i dont know if its still cuz i have a little thc left over or what...
u feel dumber cause ur high... studies not by the DEA show that weed hardly damages the brain, if at all.. also the only time memory is affected is when ur high, u can still remember everything that happened when u were sober
Prolly not much to worry about. Many meds have similar after-effects. OTOH when one drinks alot they not only feel dumber, they are medically.
actually they feel smarter this thread is bad simply because of the number of ways you can define brain damage, no point even starting (the brain is constantly changing.. drugs can simply effect teh direction or manners through which is changes... as well as destroy it like various drugs can but not cannabis)
StonerBill do you think Weed can bring out OCD? I have read one place it can and another place a guy said it helped cure his.
how does caffeine affect you? it's different for everyone. some people think much much more clearly when HIGH
to help you hijack the thread, it can definately go either way in a broad sense of obsessive compulsive. proper ocd, things which you have to always do, and is practically subconscious, those things are weakened. however, the compulsion to fulfill certain conditions can be exentuated greatly when stoned.the difference i believe is in the part of the brain these two compulsions come from. if the obsessive compulsion is due to habit then it prolly will be cured by weed, but if the ocd is due to anxiety(good or bad)/caution/etc then it will have been brought on by the weed
i get annoyed with people saying that weed makes you dumb... it really depends on what you think "dumb" is. i always feel like it just makes me think different. i never feel that i've been "impared", just shifted in a different direction.
weed doesn't cause brain damage--don't worry. THC does temporarily influence the way your brain functions, but this has nothing to do with damage.
I dont really care about studies and such. If I feel the same as I do before I started smoking, that I'm just fine.
i think the issue of 'dumb stoner' is really simple now. i figure that since weed makes you think lots and lots of abstract thoughts, basically breaking down your paradigm, while this doesnt physically alter your neurons much, the plain fact that youre not constantly exercising certain logical tasks when youre a stoner, the neurons arent as constantly fired, and thus are not as at the ready to fire. for a stoner, it sort of like turns your brain a little communist, stoners are often quicker at making abstract and unrelated thoughts than nonstoners but less quick at working out maths problems. this means that it affects different people differently (some people's neurons need less use to keep in optimum firing condition), and also can be avoided by not being lazy at school or somethin. if you o your homework, you are largely guaranteed that weed wont ruin your marks. thing is most stoners get bored of homework. i know i did, and in retrospect this all was what happened, and i can see how it happens to lots of people. this is just its simplest level, there are as many variables as there are people on the earth, as with all psychological issues really
WEED DOES NOT DO ANY PERMAMENT ACTUAL BRAIN DAMAGE. Your memory and concentration go down obviously, but after a month of quitting its completely back and as good as if you never smoked, some need 'practicing' with concentration and memory to get it up completely though as it also got lazy. The only permament risk is getting 'your schitzophrenia younger'. But thats not for everyone anyway. ALSO it doesnt'make you dumber. people stoned score averagely 5 points higher on an IQ test then when they're sober. And IQ is all about logic.
where did you get those data? that's not right at all. and, IQ is infinitely more than just logic. maybe you're refering to a very specific portion of a certain test(?)
right on bill, or to put it more simply from what i have noticed is smoking for many people makes you fine with sitting down and just thinking of all the craziness this is time you could be using to develop new skills and talents, or doing some studying. instead of just spend your days unraveling the mysteries of your bean bag chair
