lsd music? it depends on your prefs really. But when i trip i like to experience a spiritual effect if you will, and music is a great way to do that. But i think some good trip music would be STS9. You may/may not have heard of em but there a "trippy" band as much as i hate to say it. I hate that word lol, but there kinda like techno/drum/bass/acid jazz. Real chill. If your lookin for some smooth techno dance shit check out a band called Lotus. There real tight if you ask me. Or if you want some crazy shit that just sounds cool using lots of rhythm stuff and keyboards...MEdeski Martin and Wood. If you like Happy jam jazz stuff kinda like phish or dead, check out Steve Kimock Band. Guarenteed to not give you a bad trip :) hes real chill. Happy Trails dude

Sphongle (same bloke from hallucinogen, there newer album 'nothing lasts' crazy!!)

Funkadelic!! The self-titled will blow yoo miiiiiiiinddd.. GOOOOD OOOLEE FUUUNKAAYY MUU-SIC with that vicious bass, fuckin love it. Also on music for my mother, the mouth harp solo is fuckin sick, would kill to be able to bust out one of those like that. Grateful Dead 1968-1971, moreso in 68 and 69 for LSD. Wasn't this another thread? My memory sucks.

Parliament Funkadelic. There is no substitute. Especially "One Nation Under A Groove" and "Maggot Brain."

Ewww one nation is more near the end of funkadelic and the emergence of p-funk, and I don't like Parliament to begin with. Parliament sounds like disco music to me. The only kind of trip you can have listening to disco music is a shitty one lmao... The earlier (1970-73) stuff is more geared towards guitar work and trippy music, the albums I speak of are funkadelic (self-titled), cosmic slop, maggot brain, free your mind and your ass will follow. funkadelic and free your mind i'd say are the trippiest, lots of fucked up effects and shit.

i'd also suggest some world music, since nobody as mentioned any. Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Ravi Shankar (tried and true trippin tunes), Babatunde Olatunji, Kodo, Amadou and Mariam, Endang Sukandar (if you can find any), Buena Vista Social Club. it can be cool to listen to something more foreign to your ears. it's always great to experience new things while tripping.

It's free jazz, but the album I mentioned has cherry on trumpet and piano, and Okay Temiz on drums, and Johnny Dyani on bass. Maybe sometime I could send it to ya? It's like jazz and indian and turkish and african music all mixed and it's tripped out as fuck. Very hard to describe and also very rare.

yeah i was leaning more towards traditional world music, mostly made by the indigenous poeple of the countries. i don't think anybody here will classify Don Cherry as traditional. if you like him you should check out Rabih Abou-Khalil. it is almost like a combination of tradtional indian dance music and bebop unison lines (with acoustic guitar and alto sax if remember correctly). i was thinking about pulling out some Don Cherry or Sun Ra next time i drop, but am a little wary of wigging out a bit. i listened to some late Pharoah Sanders and Coltrane last time i tripped, but Sun Ra can really freak me out even when i'm sober or just blazing. i have over a dozen cd's of the arkestra, but is it too extreme to be enjoyable while tripping?

No I dont think it would be too extreme, nothing is really... But the other two dudes on that cherry album are traditional, and all the other albums they made are traditional, just the one i mentioned mixes them.
