For the last few years, I've been having these disaster dreams that the world is being destroyed. They are amazingly detailed events, such as big Tornados, massive explosions, huge Tsunamis ripping through our planet far worse than what has allready happened in the recent news. Most strange of all, I often have map dreams, where I would see a map of the world and see it distorting in front of my very eyes. I can't go into details of every dream I've had like that but they are usually overwhelming and they interest me to the point where I have visited a Psychic to find out more and see if she can get rid of them and she told me to pray to God for these, sometimes terrifying dreams to go away but they have'nt. I've posted this thread in the paranoid section because I'm convinced my nightmares will happen in the future one day. I don't expect many people to understand and you can take the piss out of me all you like (I've got a sense of humour), but it would also be helpful to know if anyone else has had these kind of dreams?

maybe these dreams are saying something about yourself.. like you, deep down, feel that you haven't realised the full extent of the damage caused by the real tornados, explosions, and tsunamis.. or that you feel like you don't care enough about them, maybe. Or maybe things are happening to you in your life that are causing great changes within yourself (would explain the map dreams). I'm not saying that's what they are, but they could be. It's just the way I tend to look at my own dreams.

You have some good points and I certainly do care about the recent disasters maybe a bit too much, however I've been having these dreams before major disasters started (eg the south Asian Tsunami, and Asian earthquake). The Tornado dreams are the most frequent, and I live in England and never even seen or been near one before but I am fascinated by them which might explain that. Do you have similar dreams to me?

I'm not on anti-depressants at the moment, I tried them once but could'nt handle the side affects. I am depressed though maybe that's the reason.

If it's a comfort, Anaconda, I can tell you that I have suffered from nightmares all my life, and that I get in a certain groove, as is the case at present, where I have them several times a night for perhaps as long as a couple of weeks.
I had three last night for instance, and as well as shattering my nerves they actually exhause me insofar as my sleep-patterns are disturbed and I am awakened in fright over and over. It gets draining

Plus for the record I should say that I've come to accept them as part of my character by now and so I don't get down about it at all. It's just another distinctive part of me that I gotta accept! Of course, a frightening dream tends to get you a bit hacked off, but asides from the times that I'm gripped with terror I'm fine!

    planets are pretty sturdy objects.

on the other hand, sentient species are not. even the web of life isn't entirely invulnerable. but the only thing natural about 'natural disasters' is the natural consiquences of parking our big fat bullets bounce off our chest, we're not part of nature cause we surround ourselves with artifacts and believe in things, egotistical backsides in the known or almost always knowable path of them.

and insist on doing things we already know directly cause them, like using combustion to generate energy and power transportation
