Growing in a plantpot in a flat

A mate of mine has had some seeds for years and never got round to planting them. But for the heck of it, he planted them in a plantpot and put them in front of his window and bohold, they sprouted! What do you reckon their chances are? Considering it's the middle of winter and there ain't much sunlight!
As you can probably tell, neither of us know anything about growing ... it's just the smoking we're interested it!

 

You have absolutely no chance of growing like that.
I'll even tell ya what's gonna happen.
They'll grow tall and skinny with hardly any leaves to about 8", then fall over and die.

Yeah, I figured something like that would happen. I've had a look around on the net and at the minute, I haven't got enough cash for the stuff. If anyone knows somewhere on the net that easily explains a budget method for growing (only enough for personal use), I'd be grateful!
