Since my cat remains indoor I have no problem with him going out and killing small creatures to eat. Its his nature to do so.

I think it is so against a dog's nature to be fed a vegan diet. It's ok if a person chooses to eat vegan/veggie, but it's ridiculous to force it onto an animal. It doesn't have the choice, cause you feed it, obviously - but that doesn't mean it's right. there is something called a food chain, that means, animals eat other animals. It's quite useful too, to keep the populations on a healthy level. Sorry, but that's my opinion. There are naturally herbivores and carnivores, that's how mother nature works. Why change something that works? I agree that humans should eat less meat, but don't fucking force your opinion on helpless animals!

Vegan canned dog food isn't half bad. Yes, it was a dare! My sister and mom tried Mojo's canned food(ewwww), so when I got her vegan canned food, they had me try it.

Im vegan, but im not entirely convinced that a DOG can be a healthy vegan. I do buy them vegan treats and chewies tho because that obviously isnt the basis of their diet and by doing so it cuts back on the demand for beef hyde. i do buy them organic free range dog food.......

I was just posting this info from somewhere else. My dog eats Innova EVO, though I may switch her to Natural Balance organic...I just thought someone might be interested in the vegan/veggi pet foods. I've never tried them.

I can see how a person wouldn't want to support animal killing by buying canned food for cats and dogs though

I am a vegetarian...but I do NOT agree with vegetarian cats and dogs...it just isn't their nature...something like it is not our nature to eat meat! Wild dogs and cats are carnivores and I really do not think they need a veggie diet!

My lunatic friend got a puppy a few years back and tried to make it vegan. After we saw his health decline rapidly, we started feeding it meat on the side. The improvement was amazing.

yeah I feel guilty in a way but I still feed my cats regular cat food becuase I don't want them to get sick.
If anyone has vegan cat food RECIPES that would rule, I could try to make some stuff and test it out. I just don't think the cats would be down though.

My cat and dog eat regular food, and I don't really intend on feeding them vegan alternatives.

The reason for this is because, aside from the compassion for animals, one of my main reasons for being vegan, is that I don't believe an omnivour diet is a natural or healthy diet for humans. I do, however, recognize that it IS a healthy diet for felines and canines. So, I'm not going to impose my beliefs and diet on an animal that it isn't suited for.

That is good...veggies in a dog's diet is good...but a dog cannot live alone on a vegetarian diet. Dogs are not natural vegetarians and need meat. Humans on the other hand do not need it.

I was thinking, I might look for cat food recipes and get free-range meat to make them food that is suited for a cat but dosen't make me feel guilty!
