they're something different i tell ya it's like a ball of fun! indie pop.somewhere in there some of their songs remind me of The Beatles.yeah that's it! a bit of Beatles psychedelia
Yeah. Gong, Hawkwind, Can, Tamam Shud (60's & 70's Australian), Legendary Pink Dots (80's & 90's Dutch). Check out http://www.waif883.org/ Saturday night / Sunday morning 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM Eastern for WEIRD WAVES: streaming Psychedelia from the 60's to Now. The giggling pixies in Gong get on my nerves once in awhile but they're OK. Captain Stargazer, Mark ElStone and Dr. Doug will curdle your cerebellum.
I got it from the name of my band. BOOYA! Before that, I got it from... hmmm... psychedelic substances. BOOYA!
WHEY! I knew Terry Ollis the original hawkwind drummer who was a caretaker at my old secondary school. I also attended a hendrix tribute with him playing at a pub and met the coolest 30 year old dude who was stereotypical hippy in a great way!
Yeah really what happened to good music? Most of the singers, bands today r singing only about money.Like this comersial MTV assholes...it`s the money, the money, the money! What`s wrong with this people?
Between Angels and Insects by Papa Roach states that the world is "based on greed". Well, theres your answer.
I am totally open minded toward music and have a vast collection of it and play several instruments, I would say the over quality of music is lower these days. There are some good bands out there but they are fewer and further between. I don't know of any bands, right now, that I would say are great.
We live in an amazing age of information. 10 minutes on the internet, and I can find 10 new bands that are making music for the music. There is so much out there right now, all you've gotta do is dig. I promise, MTV may seem gigantic, but it's well is running dry. If you can't find a connection with today's music, you haven't looked hard enough. You've heard how amazing Jimi Hendrix can be, and you've stuck with it. I'll get you started; google "Elephant 6."
I've listened to most of the new bands mentioned, I've gone to see some of them live but they really don't compare in terms of quality to some of the older bands. Seriously. Somebody told me that most newer bands are just slacking too much to be really good musicians.
I don't think it's that there's not a lot of good music out there today, it's more that we're not exposed to it. There aren't many big labels ready to take enormous risks and release something remotely uncommercial. But there are some great littls bands out there who I had to really dig around and find: The Coral Apollo Sunshine Radiohead (an obvious one... they're brilliant) Belle & Sebastian
