I'm in vermont... beautiful state. I've got 14 acres, but it's rocky and swampy, not good gathering conditions. I'd be psyched to go to a gathering, but the sooner the worse, as my parents are only slowly starting to let me have some independence, and so I'd be more likely to make it to one late this summer then early this summer.

I know some places here in Vermont..................quite a few places actually, and Vermont is known for large scale counter culture gatherings anyway, so i doubt piggies would be an issue, a WHOLE lot of wilderness in this state..........its not hard to get lost.

On that note, I know a huge property, of gigantic beautiful fields with woods surrounding...I know the owner of the land...perhaps I could get permission from her to have a three(?) day gathering, a camp out and we could arrange some bands to play? When I say bands, I mean simply friends you may know who have a great band, etc. I know myself that my friend Spencer has a great band and they've had a couple gigs before and they perform well. Their music is great. We could camp out, and have drum circles, read poetry, paint, have a bonfire, dance all night long, etc. Or any other ideas you can think of. I'm not sure how many people I would be able to have come- perhaps 100-200? Definitely not in the thousands. Sorry. I dont think there'd be more than 200 that woudl come anyway, woudl there? Whatever, haha. Just email me with ideas, because I"d be really interested in the event. If it came to it, I would buy some stuff for it, and hten I'd charge a small entry fee (5-10 dollars at most). Whatchoo think?
    haha
    Cheers,

I agree, the east coast is so long.............and I live about as far north as you can go, hell it takes 4hours just for me to get to the southern border of my state

I'm open to having it somewhere else more accessible...I was just trying to throw an idea out there and get the ball rolling. I would love this to work out, so we need someone to make plans finite. So..where does it sound like a good meeting place is- and yes, for some people (perhaps including me) it might be a journey to get there, but it's worth it, right?

If anyone can think of a place that we can all gather freely thatd be great.
    Cheers, and Love,
    Dylan

Dylan, I love the New Hope idea for people closer to the area, like me, I know I won't be able to travel to WV or any place that far. If you are really interested in this PM me or email me at AlyseInWonderland@hipplanet.com, and we can swap some ideas

sooo anybody? Its doesnt have to be in new hope, I'd be happy to have it somewhere else, but I was just trying to get something started, ya know? Is anyone still interested? I'd appreciate it if peopel tried to avoid being negative about it ("it'll never work, too far a distance to travel," etc.) and instead put their energy towards trying to get it to work out- and I mean this in the nicest way possible. :)

    Cheers and Much Love,
    Dylan

    Back online!! YaY!!
Here's the deal (IMHO), and not to be negative piano but I know whatcha mean there....
I've been through a few attempts with my online chat buddies and watched one that transpired here a coupla years ago. Many say they are coming but at the last minute bail for whatever reason and will be lucky to have 10-20 actually show up. Its going to be far for alot of people but far is rather relative,. Its going to be a road trip kinda thing (3-8hrs or more for some) for about everyone that is willing to go. The fact that there will be most likely a fairly small turn out is why I suggested hooking up before or after a festival that way if there is only a few people that show the ones that actually do show up will also have something fun to do.It also takes care of land to do it on and any fees unless its privately owned. Also because some of us can't easily escape our jobs and what little time I can get off I know I would like to see some music as well. Hard for me to take a week or several days off very often especially during the summer when everyone wants to take off from work. Unfortunately many fests don't have dates posted yet.

Definitely gather around a festie somewhere!

What we're doing for the west coast gathering is finding about as mid a point as we can come up with, which seems to be Southern Oregon, and because we're not bothered about festivals (and only about 20 people seem up to the gathering so far) we've contacted the parks department in that state, requesting information on parks that fit the specifications: close to a highway/enough tent areas/water hookups and restrooms...etc.

First of all, when it comes to information being disclosed in a public forum, you need to decide how public you want info to be. As cool as the forums are, there are some weirdos here. It might be best to have all interested parties that can DEFINITELY plan for this, PM a certain central planner. That planner can then get info gathered and PM it out to everyone so that no weirdos can show up and spoil anything. :D

    Have fun! Good luck! :D
