An Odd Quirk that Isn't That Bad but is Nevertheless There

Hello. In the my "My Documents" folder, when I right click and go "Arrange Icons By" the options are clearly designed for mp3-sorting - Artist, Album, Year etc - which is clearly wrong if one is not working with music. How do I get the normal options back?

Right click > properties > customize

There's a drop-down menu where you can select what type of folder it is. (At least, that's how it's done for a normal folder. The My Documents may be special in some way, but I'm on my Linux box so I can't check now).

 

Syntax is right. Under Windows XP at least, you can change the way each folder behaves. You can even choose arrangement options like "By When Modified" or "Date Created".

 

Just a little update on my progress. Bizarrely, I found that I could only do this in My Documents by going View>Choose Details. A box with loads of checkboxes should come up, then you choose accordingly. So people experiencing the same thing may wanna try that too.
