I thought I bought a commercial pattern for making a skirt but it was cut on the bias.
I'm looking for a SIMPLE 2 piece pattern for making a skirt with drawstring waist. Can someone help me I have a book (patchwork expressions) explaining how to make skirts and apron tops and I really need a Pattern to work from.
Does anyone know where I can buy a pattern?
I know a lot of you ladies have really pretty skirts on your websites (phunkymonkeythreads is my fav) I would even buy a brown kraft paper pattern from some one if they could put some instructions maybe email me a few pics from your current skirt project on how to do the drawstring part. (and I'm looking for a apron top pattern too).

I would LOVE some help, Thanks sooo much,
    Amanda

I've never used a pattern to sew, but I could easily write a simple tutorial up for you, even draw some pics and scan them, it's super simple.

its not hars to do a simple 2 piece skirt. what i do is measure my waist. half it then adda few inches to it. then work out trhe length you want and mark downwards from the middle of that measurement (this is on the fabric) and then put the top measurement doubled along the bottome. Cut this ouit twiceand sew together at the sides.

    Hem the bottom

then at the topadd a button hole where you want the front to be (or alternitavly buy one of those metal hole punch and ring placers they are pretty cheap and handy but i dont have one).

then fold the top over about half an inch or more and swe it in place (making sure there is space all the wayaround inside for your drawstring.

them make/buy/create your drawstring and pull it through :)

when I make a quick skirt pattern, I measure my waist then add a few inches. I take a brown grocery bag cut off the bottom and open it flat. I mark the bag for the length of the skirt and cut it. Then I take 1/4 of my desired waist and mark that along the top. Then draw a line with a straight edge to the bottom of the bag, from my mark at the top. So you basically have a pattern that when placed on fabric folded in 1/2 will give you a front or a back. It makes a cheap template to work from.

Thanks for the response ladies, I think I could make the skirt. I just wasn't sure how much more you add to the bottom measurement. And I was a bit unsure about how to do the drawstring part but I'm going to make an attempt maybe this weekend. I also want to make a skirt for my sister we are very different sizes. I'm around a size 12-14 and she is around a 3-5 and very tall I'm the short one. I was wandering if there was a place I could look up general sizes like if I know my mom wears size 6 then how big of a waist? Is there a chart somewhare?

    Thanks so much,
    Amanda

Oh and I forgot should I make the bottom straight or slightly curved? or cut it straight and then just hem it all even?

    thanks
