Hi, Any of you hippies busk for money sometimes? i'm a broke college kid, so on rare occasions i will, mostly for the fun of it i suppose...If u do, what do you do?!...I mostly do freestyle footbag (er..crazy solo hackysacking) , devil sticks, juggling, or some slam poetry on a mellow day... It makes some decent money, but i do it more for the fun of entertaining people..hehe! share your talents with the world!!!!!
I'm not good enough at slam poetry or hacky sack to make money off of it, even for busking... although I wish I were! There were a couple instances where I was really short on cash - literally living from paycheck to paycheck, not being able to afford gas money sometimes, so I made a bunch of friendship bracelets (all different patterns, diamonds and stuff). Embroidery floss cost pennies, and I was able to swipe most of the colours from my mom and gramma who both had tons left over from their own projects. Once I had about 50 bracelets made, I went downtown and set up a little cardboard box and sold them at a dollar a piece. Luckily I was able to sell all of them which helped me out a bit!
That's wicked!!!!!!! You're my hero. But no taking granny's string! I can make some cool hemp bracelets and necklaces and stuff, i havent really thought about selling it. I like doing the crazy stuff that makes people turn their heads and say "whoa!" Even if they just stand there and watch, maybe i'll inspire someone! I have a close friend that twirls a staff and douses the ends in kerosene, she lights it on fire, although i think she had an accident once and singed her eyebrow, now she has the paramedics on speed dial! hehe! I also saw this crazy dude that burst into this long practiced monologue in an amazing foil proof british accent..it was intense!!! Wow, the things people do...lol, he wanted to earn his money...and only broke character once to say that he wasnt gay...
You can probably find a place at craft shows or if you go downtown anywhere during a festival, sell a bunch of your stuff! I had good luck also making hair wraps, it's always fun.
If only i was able to play an instrument well enough, I'd busk for a few years and keep traveling around the world.
