Has this ever been done? (Think Johnny Appleseed...)

Has a widescale marijuana planting initiative ever been undertakenthat you guys know of? And I don't mean a few crappy seeds here and there; more like tens of thousands of decent plants all around the country. Obviously a lot wouldn't grow and/or would be cut down immediately, but that isn't necessarily the point since getting on the news would be success enough since that would have the potential to re-open a forum of why we even bother to demonize this plant in the first place and so on.

Any thoughts or comments?

I personally don't think it would be very successful unless done on a very, very large scale and in the midst of relatively little news, but it seems like an interesting idea nonetheless.

 

Come springtime, I'll be spreading seeds around campus, and throughout the woods I smoke in. Right now it's too cold.

 

I've contemplated it. It may work, Especially if you live in a small town or by a forest or something like that. But a wide spread initiative, It could be a lot of fun indeed.

Tell everyone you know that doesn't use their seeds to collect them, and then one day just go out and scatter them around. You won't have to do much, since they are weeds. Spread the word! Smokey TH Seed.

 

i cant beleive how many others have thought of this concept,and what a brilliant concept at that.All pot heads should unite once a year and plant seeds around where they live.

How will we spread the word. There has to be some way, like having a bunch of people save up and put on some T.V. commercials haha

No the govt wouldn't have that.
Nor would my Cable provider. "COMCAST cares about the community" And in people's minds pot is bad.

But there has to be some way to reach TONS of smokers.

 

Convince everyone you know to do it, and have them spread it, and so forth and so on.

A serious approach should be taken if you guys are actually serious about doing this; i.e. plant at a time of year and in places that maximizes the likelyhood of the seeds growing into plants, talk with others about a reasonable course of action to ensure that authorities and/or locals note the growth of the plants, look into risks involved, ect.

The above along with other obvious facets that should be considered will vary slightly depending on where this is being done, but that shouldn't keep a project like this from being a success in small towns or suburbs.

Painting the nation green with Marijuana plants is a warm fuzzy thought, but obviously isn't likely to happen. The most feasible widescale approach that I can think of would be something along the lines of planting a lot of seeds in numerous suburban areas at the same time around a tri-state area. If nothing else, that has an outside shot of making the news.

Groundskeepers will remove the plants along with the other weeds in the normal course of their duties. They probably won't even note the species of weed they just pulled.

Even if you guerilla planted small plots rather than individual plants, what message would be sent beyond than "Whee!!"?

 

What I had in mind when the inquery of whether this had ever been done was more along the lines of planting in areas that aren't particularly well-groomed, but also aren't completely out of the public eye. I don't know where you live, but there's quite a few places around here that fit that description.

As for the message that would be sent in the unlikely event that there was a considerable success rate, it could be anywhere from further evidence of how much time/resources are wasted by local law enforcement on drug control (since they would probably go out and try to destroy the rest of the plants) to, at the very least, opening up a forum of why marijuana is illegal in the first place.

I realize that the response would most likely be something to the effect of the collective head of society shaking in disgust at the most recent atrocity caused by local burnouts, but who really cares? Never acting on curiosity is one of the many traits that I can't stand about my dull, overweight peers.

 

Think about it, what if we actually did it all across the U.S.? If it was done maybe 3 or 4 years in a row... Pot would have to be legalized...Everyone would posess it unknowingly
