Rather than making two threads i thought it would be more efficient to make one. Anyone listen to the Kaiser Chiefs? They're a new band from London, England and they are awesome. They seem to mix different influences(mostly british rock). You can hear a definite 80s kinda new wave influence but they also seem to have influence from older bands like The Who. I like their songwriting too, a little on the pop-y side with a couple of the songs, but overall pretty damned good. Anyone heard of Stephen Malkmus? I heard a single called "Baby C'mon" by him on SIRIUS Left of Center, and I thought he was awesome. The writing is ok, but I really like his voice(which is non-traditional, some may not) and how he plays the guitar in it. Has anyone heard more of his stuff? I'm deciding if I want to buy an album.. Last but not least. Sleater-Kinney is an all-girl band from Portland, Oregon. Two lead guitars and a drummer. They're really good. Their previous albums(they have been around awhile) weren't as good as their new one though, The Woods. Its just awesome. It has the badass rock n roll swagger of Zeppelin or a band like that. Check them out if you haven't. One song in particular i recommend is "Entertain".
never listened to the kasier cheifs stephen malkmus is pretty good. I think his new album is worth to buy if ya dont wanna download it. I prefered him awhole lot more when he was in pavement, but he is still doing pretty well for himself doing his solo thing. If you like his solo album and pavement, you should definitly check out the silver jews. Its another band he is part of. i really enjoy sleater-kinney as well! their new album is just so badass...one of the best rock albums i have ever heard. The previous one (one beat) was a great album as well, but i have never heard anything before that one...but out of those two albums, i really like them!
I enjoy Kaiser Chiefs but fucking love love love love love Stephen Malkmus. I think he is better solo then with Pavement, personal opinion thats all.
