Pop’s Culture I have been told so often Since I was a little kid. About the “world today” And things that are not What they used to be. He has told me much About the lose of the family unit. Where has it gone? Though we are one. He has told me much About the rise of apathy. Does no one care anymore? Though we read the papers He has told me much About the decline of television. There’s no originality. Though we don’t watch much T.V. He is forever staring. Forever he is grasping Backwards in time. Mourning the death of the past. Shunning the birth of the future. He laments this future world. A future lacking good music. It all sucks! Though I never bother listening to it. I don’t know what to tell him When he says these things. Perhaps it’s simple. Look to your own future. Listen to your own music. Watch your own T.V. Read your own news. Raise your own family. Obvious? To some it is. But it’s a message He always likes to hear.
i liked this. you didn't drown the poem in too much imagery or metaphor, the directness of it was very refreshing. the title was clever too.
aww whoever 'he' is, I feel like him sometimes. I liked how you ended it. It was a great message Thanks for sharing it. peace&<3
Interesting poem. It's refreshingly modern in style, which expresses a kind of pure simplicity to convey it's meaning for the time. Well done.
