Christianity says that those who are "saved" by the supposed jesus have their mortal bodies revived and go to "heaven" for eternity. So I wonder what christians think you could do in the physical body for eternity? Sex is out, along with drugs and rock 'n roll. So what gives meaning to eternal life?
Tiddleywinks? I spy with my little eye? Joke # 4273?

wooooh sex is out, stop there i was not told that before i signed up to this whole God thing.
of course these things are out, these are our spirits, we are no longer human, heaven is quite different, look at it as a energy of just love- forget the definition of eternity, because God is without time- cannot judge time
nobody knows what happens untill you die
and also there is nothing wrong with 'i spy' :p
    peacex

Eternity is not about "everlasting" or going on forever, because those exist in time. Eternity is outside of, transcendent of, time. It is the eternal NOW, and there can be an eternity between every second of every day because it has nothing to do with time. Time has no meaning in eternity, like "distance" has no meaning in infinity.

Maybe you die, go to heaven for eternity, then maybe decide to be reborn, and when you're reborn, it's only a second later from the time you died.

    Yes!!!

Eternity is not a quantity of time. Time can not be a measure of eternity. Eternity transcends time altogether.

It is as meaningless to measure eternity in time as it is to measure inspiration in time, or ecstasy in acres, or music in gallons.

So ... if God creates a new Earth ... that is without evil, and only good ... and is perfect ...

Is that place not heaven? If it is perfect and untainted, how is it different from heaven, which is also perfect and untainted?

In that case ... how would you spend an eternity on Earth? If it is perfect, the same restrictions that apply to heaven exist. I.e. no sex, etc.

    Heaven refers to three things
    Sky
    Space
    Gods Dwelling

So no its not heaven in that sense :).

How is sex imperfect? God created it did he not? Heck, The songs of Solomon talks alot about sex in a postive manner. Also last time i checked there wasn't a list of "restrictions" that apply to heaven.

Your life here is a preview. As you grow older, you learn to enjoy a greater variety of stuff.

Oh, I definitely agree with you, sex is [SATAN'S MIGHTIEST PLEASURE]! I was just being satirical. :p

That made me lol, in real life. I can't imagine being back on dial-up ... that was the worst! NaykidApe, call your cable company and demand DSL, or at least cable! Hell, I'll call them too if you give me their number.

Lol, thanks but I was thinking more along the lines of painting my face blue and red, borrowing one of your swords, and storming their main office.

Is that what it says in the bible, or is that what you think/believe/rationalise? There's plenty of "maybe's", so where's the christian doctrinal certainty?
The way it's biblically presented, there is "eternal life" for those who believe in the JC myth, and "eternal damnation" for those who don't. So if "eternal" is outside of time constraints as you suggest, how can "eternal damnation" be a punishment, and how can "eternal life" be any better/different?

I was just answering based on my knowledge of the word "eternity." Eternal life doesn't have to mean immortality, if one cared to think about it beyond the knee-jerk reaction stage. The word has been twisted to mean that but it's different.

To see the world in a grain of sand,
and to see heaven in a wild flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hands,
    and eternity in an hour.
    ~William Blake

It's not about a long period of time. It's more like... I guess I'd say the DEPTH of the experience. People talk about the "eternal NOW" and that's my understanding of it. Eternity exists all around us, always, and is accessible through the NOW. It holds time like infinity holds space.

Yup. You begin to realise that worrying is pointless. I have a faithless friend who is totally paranoid about a bunch of shit he doesn't have to be because of his lack of faith.

Not saying you should hit your thumb with a hammer and expect God to protect you, but don't worry about it, pain will teach you not to be a dumbass, additionally, the fact that pain fades will teach you that being a dumbass isn't all that bad if it makes a kid laugh.

That more like a spin to suit apologetics than a real definition of eternity.
Eternity is forever in TIME, not imagination, speculation, shallowness or depth.
How can eternal life not include immortality, praytell?
