when dreams die.

have you ever finnally realized that your dream is never gonna happen? I always wanted to be a proffesional musician. And it just hit me, right now, two seconds before i posted this, that it will never happen. Before i came up to this school, everyone i played music with was good, but i was usually the better musician. or right with them, or just behind them. but i am just being surpassed in great lengths while i'm around these other musicians (i'm a student of music and sound engineering).....and its killing me inside. i just want to go back and play with my band to remind me how much i love music. but in my frustration, and drive to want to write somthing "great", to impress these people has me in a musical block!! nothing is coming. i feel dead inside. its hard to explain.....

 

you can either choose to let the dream die or you can do what i did...learn from others...ask them to teach you some licks its good stuff...

Let me get this straight. I'm a little confused as to what you're getting at here. You've always dreamt of being a rock star. You're one of the greatest your bathroom mirror has ever seen, I gather. In your entire musical life you've played with people and been either as good as, worse than, or better than every single one of them. Now you've graduated on from your small town setting and moved into the big leagues you're finding that everyone around you is exactly like you, except better. And this is quite a disconcerting revelation. That is what I take from what you said.

I'm going to have to agree with you when you say that you'll never be a musician. Perhaps a crappy one, but never one that anyone is ever going to take seriously. I only say this cause you're in school for it. Real musicians aren't in school to become musicians, they are out there being them.
