I'm glad that we would never go down that path... I see I was wrong! I wish I could believe you IronGoth... however, I have spoken with members of the PC's over the phone... From what was said. 1. They want to invest and give the tax breaks to Canadian businesses... His statement was - corporations drive this country... I would rather give my money to the poor, or people that "really" need it. 2. They want to get rid of same sex marriage... My reply to the guy was... I've been married for 15 years, and up till no, no gay person has had a problem with that, or has wanted to take that away from me... why would I want to do that to them? (other than either just to be mean... 3. They support the "spread of democracy in Iraq"... I asked him if he supports spreading democracy to countries that "don't want it".. no response. 4. It isn't "your" money. I love this idea about how the government has this endless pit of money, and deciding it goes to poor children is nice and back to those who pay it in is wrong. Listen up. More money in investments (and this will be achieved by giving tax breaks to people who invest, not by borrowing money or taxing YOU to pay for it) means more jobs, and MORE tax revenue. Increasing taxes mean LESS money. That is NOT what Harper said. What they want is a free vote on the issue, and for it to be decided by LAWMAKERS democratically, not by activist judges. That's why kiddie porn is legal in B.C. Some judge decided it should be legal, and that's how the law gets made, not by lawmakers. This is a VERY GOOD THING. Don't knock democracy til you've tried it. Cons KEEP THEIR PROMISES. Remember Martin and Chretin and their "Hi will kill dat GST?" That's not true. Not by a long shot. Vote Conservative. Conservatives are democrats. Put in for an initiative to decrim and make it a free vote. That'll get it legalized way faster than waiting for Martin to do it.
The best social program is a JOB. When people own their own homes, when they have their own property and their OWN stuff they pay for, they look after it. Look at public housing projects. The animals they house in there kick the windows in, kick the doors in, heck, the money comes in free to fix it. Why care? I'm not responsible for any of this. Problem is, it leads to people living with broken windows and doors. I'd rather have a job and afford my own property than live in welfare housing. Lazy people and welfare handout rejects want otherwise.

I would like to think of it as my money going somewhere... and IMO - the corps that you say give us revenue, are also gaining a lot... I feel the poor need more $'s than Wendy’s, McDonalds or the tobacco companies... but hey, maybe I'm wrong... The thing is.. its a done deal... legal and finished.. now they want to re-visit? We all know what they want, and its not the right way to do things... again IMO - the government should stay out of peoples bedrooms, and simply do what "WE" hired them to do... Correct. And when the cons slash taxes and you have more money in your pocket, you can decide to give it to whom you choose, rather than a government. If you think the poor need the money, give it to them. That's the way "your money" works. If taxes are low, then the Conservatives can't give it to Big Business, and the Liberals can't create a permanent welfare class. You can take your newfound wealth (your money, which YOU earned) and do with it what you will. That's democratic! Pot's illegal. Why revisit this? Oh, right, we revisit laws all the time. It's good to do that. It's even better to vote for or against them. I fervently believe that the will of the people IS for SSM and support that being decided by a vote. You didn't see the tearful, cheerful people being liberated from Saddam. You didn't see the people proudly holding their inky fingers aloft, though that would TARGET THEM FOR DEATH by the usual suspects. Vote Conservative. Do yourself and the country a favor. At the very least they'll be spending less and giving you more tax money back, and removing laws rather than adding them. That'll give you the opportunity to use your money how you see fit. If you oppose $250 refunds, pay the $250 back into the system. You have that right. The Liberals don't "stand up" for anything. Remember soft wood? A lot of empty talk is all. Keep in mind the Liberals DID commit troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. So much for standing up. Turdeau gave Nixon the finger. Behind his back, mind you. To his face, that I'd have had respect for. But then again, you need to have size and strength in order to stand up to someone. And if you're crippled with a liberal economy you can't do that. That's why Europe is so pissy.

Socratez - what the Cons will give you is the ability to put forth initiatives. They do that here in Washington State. People didn't like paying hundreds to thousands of dollars every year in taxes to licence their cars. So what they did was simply vote in a $35 car tab law, in essence telling the government that's how they wanted it to work... Under a conservative government, you would be able to start an initiative people could vote on which would become LAW which would say "we the people want to be able to smoke pot" and if it passed, the government would be FORCED to do it. Where did you read the decrim stuff on the site? It's my belief that they're opposed to the hodgepodge of yeses and no's. The Liberals' legislation on same is confusing and patchwork.
Do yrself a favor. Go vote. People have died to give you that right, it's an important one. And do something right for your country. Make it more accountable, democratic and for the people.
Woah last time I checked, they were people. And it is our problem. The citizens of our country are our problem, the situations they are in are our problems. I want a government that is going to ask "Why are these people in this situation and how can we fix it?"

Agreed. We should be having some compassion for the people of our country and do wahts best for everyone. Being greedy and only considering your own money and what goes into your own pocket isn't a good way to live. That's one of the reasons I was always proud to be Canadian, was that we have that compassion have human life. Feeding lawless corporations and counting your pennies isn't looking at the big picture.....

Iron are you even Canadian (or can you vote for Canada)? ... We should help people. Not through them to side and forgut about them. Once you do that people well resort to crime to get some cash. Anywho, you are sterotypeing all "poor" people on welfare to be lazy basterds. Sure there are some like that. But I bet alot of them are stuck there because you cons dont help them on there feet. We should take our taxs and help them. Start programs, education, youth groups, and some other clubs to keep the kids out of crime.
Yes I am Canadian, but I cannot vote. I no longer reside in Canada. When you grow up you realise that people are responsible for themselves. ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE and you do a disservice to generations of folk who worked long and hard to put food on the table and build something for themselves. If crime is caused by poverty, explain Paul Martin. No, just those who think their way in life should be paid by the government. There's LOANS, there's entry level jobs. Hell, dude, I had a degree and a diploma I was thousands in the hole to pay for, working under the table in a warehouse moving boxes cheek to jowl with illegals cause it was the only job I could get in Canada. My heart bleeds for welfare rejects who beg on the road "welfare cheque doesn't buy beer." Your choice is between the lying thief Martin who says he'll help these people and do nothing for them, or the conservatives, who will stop borrowing money we can't afford, stop wasteful spending, give people more money back and invest in businesses, which will invest in people and jobs.
