    about the tyrannasaurus rex.

the dinosaur's appearance and everything........ new findings actually point towards tyrannasaurus rex as being a large bird. it had feathers. crazy, huh?? all those movies made about t-rex are wrong. even those follicile raptors, that were in jurassic park were birds. not lizards. there are many similarities between those carnivorous dinosaurs that roamed around on two legs and birds. they all have hollow bones, strong hind quarters for fast running, and kicking, weak limbs, and strong mouths/beaks.

they actually found a raptor preserved in stone that had the feathers still attached to it........ and now they think its quite possible that t-rex also had a plume of feathers. that would be quite odd to think about.

I always new that birds were decendants of dinosaurs, but I never thought that t-rex could have been just a big carnivorous bird.

saber tooth tiger was around the ice age....... there werent any mammals around during the time of the dinosaurs..... except for very small burrowing mammals, that made it through the asteroid blast that killed off most of the dinosaurs

Yes, I read about these findings years ago. IIRC, the closest relation to a T-Rex is the common ostrich.

You have it backwards, according to mainstream paleontology anyway. Technically all modern birds descended from dinosaurs and most modern birds ARE dinosaurs. (i.e. technically, dinosaurs are not actually extinct). Non-avian dinosaurs are not birds, however. Avian dinosaurs, or "birds", evolved from non-avian dinosaurs.

Although there are a few known instances where avian dinosaurs evolved back into non-avian dinosaurs, the Tyrannosaurus does NOT fit into this category.

You are correct though in that many non avian dinosaurs were known to have feathers.

I'm a science buff. You wouldn't believe how much useless trivia lives in my brain. But yes, your chicken is literally a dinosaur. Nifty eh?

It's sad that Gary Larson no longer does the Farside comics. Chicken as T Rex is a comedy gold mine.
