Bonzo was good. When he died, I never would've thought Zeppelin would've broken up. I figured they could've found an adequate replacement-hard as that might've been. Phil Collins is good. I like Neil Peart not only as a drummer but as a lyricist as well.
Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters , And Foo fighters drummer Taylor ( forget his 1st name but he's pimp shit)
Nick Mason is pretty damn underrated.....but with characters like Gilmour and Waters in the same band I guess it'd be easy to get overlooked. His work in Pompeii was fantastic. ~Layla
John Bonham, he is the most creative and presice drummer of all !! The mans an avalanche he can just about hit every part of the set at once, i love listening to his eternal Moby dick solo !! I really dig the screaching sound of his pedal in some songs. example Since ive been loving you, thats the type of thing that makes Led Zeppelin so special to me they are so authentic. Whatever was recorded stayed on the album and not "cleaned" like most bands do.
I agree, I would not call Nick the best drummer ever, but I think he gets forgotten too much by some people. You have to watch Nick live on some songs to really get a respect for him. and going off that, one new drummer that I believe is really good, and need to watch him live to fully appreciate him is Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls.
John Bonham would be my choice. I also think Ric Allen is a great drummer considering he only has the use of one arm and another would be Neil Pert from Rush.
people don't say mitch mitchell, but he is pretty good. not as good as keith moon, but he is amazing with the guys he had to go up against at his time.
Keith Moon Either Bonham mitch mitchell Ginger Baker and Hollands very own Cesar Zuiderwijk (of the golden earring) Mitch is fantastic i just don't know where to place him regarding Ginger Baker... but what does it mather Peace
BONZO!! anyone got that zeppelin DVD with the desert on the cover and the plataeu? somewhere on there there is a clip with no sound but has bonzo with a gong lit on fire and his mallet was on fire too and he was beating the gong. it was so cool. but i have no idea where on the dvd it isx or which disk cause i saw when waking up from falling asleep. havnt been able to find it. i hope it wasnt a dream. it was so cool
Danny Carey, Bozzio, Grant Collins(sweet jesus) and Tony Royster Jr.... I have a video from when he was like 12 and seriously this kid outdrums half of the people mentioned in this thread. go to google and type in "Tony Royster Jr." and go to the second link.
Keith Moon or John Bonham Ginger Baker, John Densmore, Mitch Mitchell, Zakk Starr (Ringo's kid) I've seen Zakk play for The Who and he's great. I believe he tours with Oasis now. Im guessing its an on/off thing where he switches bands.
Yeah Zakk is the best replacement for Keith, he does a really good job emulating Keith, something nobody can do, but he had lessons from him so... I can't help but think of Nick Mason as a bit of a lazy drummer, he's good, very disciplined, very much on the mark, but just not that... something the other guys have, and i'm not just talking volume here
