http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7595627057236380267&q=Pink+Floyd Syd Barrett was so gone at this point.
That's rather odd, given that he's the one singing and playing acoustic guitar...and it's also one of his own songs.
That video was recorded in America....for the Pat Boone show I think....., anyway, they where just Mimeing to the song, and Syd was pretty far gone by then.........
Wait wasn't Pat Boone like a Christian show or something of that nature? What would he be doing having Pink Floyd on there?
are you sure about that?? I think the video you are thinking of is "apples and oranges" the only shows they did in america, that I know of was american bandstand, and the pat boone show, or was it the andy williams show?? anyways, it was some crappy crooner from the 50s...... I dont quite recall, but I know they didnt perform jugband blues then. last time that any american show saw pink floyd and syd barrett was in 67, around the time apples and oranges was released.....
Pink Floyd were on it, Syd was in pretty bad shape at this point, at the whole going on stage and playing one note all night level, on the interview for the show though, the rest of the band tried to get the questions directed at them to Syd wouldn't really have to talk, but of course Syd was asked stuff, and when he was asked what he liked most about his travel so far, there was a painfully long stretch of silence which began to worry the band, then Syd replied, "America" and the audience went wild with cheering.
I might be wrong about the Pat Boone show, though I know they played for the show once........but I'm positive that The video we just watched was Mimed, and that by then Syd was pretty fucked up.......
I love that video. And I don't think they're liping it since the studio version sounds very diffrent and is short.
good video. I thought it was Jugband Blues, not Jughead blues. Syd turned 60 a week or so ago. Poor crazy bastard...
right, but IM pretty sure that it wasnt this video..... jugband blues would have been to far out there for any american audience at the time. when they did go to america to perform at some tv shows, it was the well known singles like see emily play, or apples and oranges.
Following the links from here bring up even more great video. The Live 8 performance spanked. All poverty was rocked out of Africa!
If you watch, Syd's mouth, and the words in the song don't even match....., and they probibly recorded the song, and then mimed it when it was time for the performance...... you get what I'm sayin???
