Today i was downtown and it was raining and my friend & i heard this bum playing the weirdest music i have ever heard. we stopped and talked to him and he told us about his insturment. I love it, ive never heard anything like it before. its hypnotizing.
Didjeridoo is quite universal instrument... it may be used like in trance music, allso Jamiroquai have used it in many songs (like Didjerama) and it goes well allso with djembes and it has been used for 'healing' to open energies (Leonardo Dicaprio for example uses didjeridoo while his wife goes to beauty-salongs. ) And if you play it, you'll have a really nice trip inside yourself.
i was talking to a kid i know with a didjeridoo, and he was telling me a story from earlier that day. he went to the desert, alone, and had a heavy mescaline trip and played his didj for 4 or 5 hours straight and all of his drool was coming out of the other end. pretty hard instrument to play. hardcore players learn circular breathing, and other difficult techniques.
listen to xavier rudd that guy can play a didg. I think it originated from australia originally called a "yadaki" i believe. but in our parts of the world its known as a didgideroo. It is one of the oldest instruments known to man. Its been around for thousands of years. He can play pretty awesome with it. Check out archive.org for his music for free ofcourse. Didg players are very awesome. It has a very unique and pleasing sound. I wish i could play one! lol
I play the didj, the longest I've played for is about 2Hrs Non stop, you do get a total buzz after playing it constantly for a while, you totaly Zone out. I like playing it when I'm totaly stoned, you just totaly get into it & not even notice anything around you I almost had an Out of Body Experience playing it, it was soo weird !!!! but yeah, the Abboriganies, call it the Yidakki there is a few different names & spelling for it depending on the area.
