I've been working away at some tams, head socks, and dread beads to list on my site. Here's a couple of pics of my head sock. It's crocheted from 100% hemp. I've pre-washed it to soften it up so that it's comfy right away The top and bottom are adjustable so that it fits snug and you can have it tied up tight on the top or let your hair hang out! Side: Back: Open Top:
i like it! is that the hemp you use to make necklaces? i tried crocheting with that stuff once and i just couldn't do it, it was really rough on my hands.
no. it's actually hemp yarn but it is still rough on the ol' hands. i've done some work with a hemp/cotton mix which was much easier on the hands but it wasn't as durable and strong. i think that i prefer the 100% hemp (even if it is a bit tough on the fingers lol)
You're so pretty! I saved the first photo you posted in my comp. 'cause I gather photos of beautiful people
Hijack.... You totally remind me of a friend I use to have way back when. Every time I see your posts, I am transported back to junior high.....you are her twin! Nice hats by the way!
ahh knitinchick- i see that your wearing my rainbow glass dreadbead i sent you! it looks lovely on you mama
I really like that a lot, I also really like your tams to, do you think it would be weird if i wore them even if I don't have dreads, because I love your items and would love to buy something from you sometime
Thanks for the positive feed back everyone Aurora ~ I don't think it would be wierd at all if you wore one without dreads. I used to cerridwen ~ I just sold it but will be making some more now that I found a good spot to buy hemp yarn.
I've finished another dread tam! This one is made from merino wool (red yarn) and an alpaca/silk blend (natural color yarn). I get the wool from a local mill.....you should see it! They raise a lot of the animals for the fibre right there (sheep and alpacas) and it is processed on site. The give tours if you want them.....and better yet, the people are so nice. Anyway, here's a pic of the tam I've just finished. I have other views of it on my site.
