I have a little Mac Performa 550, I fire up about once a week just to keep up my use of Mac key codes.
I have a compaq 386 that I use every now and then. It has a dungeons and dragons game on it, and I'll goof around with lotus 123 just for old time's sake.
Man, old is the interactive unix 386's and 486's that some people I support are still using. Interactive was EOL'd by Sun like ages ago, shittiest unix-based OS i've ever used. I am a fan of commodore 64/128, sick sick games. Also the amiga i forget the model names, but the games for that were fuckin awesome, loved Zak McKracken
had a 10Mhz box with a turbo button! worked until i took it apart.....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeird stuff in there.
Yep, I got mine (TS 1000) in the very late seventies or early eighties....ahhhhh...... http://oldcomputers.net/ts1000.html It was trippie as hell....at the same time the como 64 was the caddy of its day. My first PC was a Timex Sinclair, with 2K of RAM expandable to 4K, as best I recall. A friend gave it to me in 1983 I think it was...
Me too Free downloads here, may be, only german versions, i didn't check it out: Zak McKracken 1.03 Zak McKracken 2 Zak McKracken and the Alien Rockstar (still in developement)
I'm still on an antiquated computer. Dell Precision 210. One of those old style desktops that take up a ton of space. It's on the floor beneath my desk and makes for a nice footrest when I'm playing around online.
Our Commadore 64 still ran when we boxed it and stored it in the attic about 10 years ago. It wasn't bad, no storage on the machine, everything on HUGE floppies and it only too, oh, about 5 days to boot up. LOL! I saw this computer at the Smithsonian.
You should hook it up and play some friday the 13th, stunt car racer, or zak mckracken. I remember the Zak I had wasn't cracked so when you go to the airport and you gotta enter a pin number (presumably only in the manual so that they could stop people from sharing games) so I could never get too far. But the amiga one I had was cracked, so I played pretty far into it. Oh and thanks for that link up there ^... had to g et rid of cable and net at home (usually post on here from work) due to money issues, so now I might dl a commie64 emulator here and tons of roms to bring home. I've got a nes emulator and every game ever made for it kicking around somewhere, yet another sick old system.
I use an NES emulator called ZSNES that is pretty cool. Has a crap load of games and doesn't have to be installed to use. it runs on Windows (I have XP), DOS, or Linux. My kid and I were playing Lethal Enforcer and Claymates about a week ago. Actual screenshot of the non stop action and thrills LOLz http://www.zsnes.com/
Stunt track racer was Amiga..awesome game I like it better than the X-box stuff that's out now. But it won't run on a Amiga 4000 for some reason. I have a couple Amigas laying around, two or three 1200s a 2000 and a 4000 Flyer. Also a dead 600 that I took for a motorcycle ride one day and vibrated apart. I think i sold all my C64s at a yard sale...had 5 or so. Used to get cracked games for them before they were released..had tons. Loved Count down to Shutdown and Bubblebobble. Hey, remember the old Zork seris?
i just upgraded, but before xmas, i was using an IBM aptiva from 1995. 333 mhz/64 RAM. actually ran just as fast as my new laptop, except for media. good for the net, though.
Yes I like zsnes, runs pretty smoothly. I didn't know they had a stunt car racer for amiga! the one i played was for c64 or 128, but i doubt 128 because if i recall correctly there weren't many games that actually used the 128. I forget a lot of the commodore game names, I remember this one series that was one of the first side scroller punch faces games. I used to love that one. Mission Impossible was sick too. Zork sounds a little familiar, what is the plot and gameplay like? Amiga 4000 is the SHIT, you ever play that game where huge radioactive ants are taking over, i think it's called "it came from the desert" not exactly sure on the name, that game was so fun but i could never beat it. Another one i loved because you could decapitate people in fights, was "moonstone" but my little cousin stepped on the floppies and ruined the copy. Do you know any good ROM sites for amigas?
CWild, I thought it was Stunt Track Racer are we talking about the same game? This had an inside view of a car that you raced around an elevated track. It had some kinda turbo mode that blew flames outa the shorty pipes sticking outa the hood, I think. Then if you fell off the track you'd get a hole in your roll bar and a crane would lift you back up onto the track. And it was in STEREO! You had to jump gaps and stuff. I can't remember it being on a C64, but could be. The Zork games were text only games. They ran on C64s Apple IIs and other 8 bit computers. You had to type in stuff like Go Right, Look, Take, Walk, Hit monster, etc. They were adventure, dungeon and dragon type games. There were others but Zork was really big. The Zork dudes started the Infocom company. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zork Never played those Amiga games. Sounds like the Ants one was a take-off of the Sci-Fi movie. I have a bunch of Amiga disks around somewhere, Earthworm Jim an stuff, but I don't feel like hooking up all that hardware again. Here's Countdown to Shutdown. http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=1713&d=18 raysun, Neat site, my son has used it...maybe I'll download a few emulators!!!
Ahh I liked some of those text games but never tried zork, I used to play this one a lot I think it was called mountain valley something or something river valley i know valley was in the title, and I also liked spellbound but couldn't get very far. I think we are talking about the same stunt race game, it sounds much alike, but I know this one was on the c64, maybe the amiga one was like a sequel. http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=7519&d=18&h=0 There's the game I am talking about.
Yeah Wild, that's it, LOL! Graphics were better tho! Apparently it was cross platform! This site lists it as Stunt Track Racer (Stunt Car was the UK name) and has screen shots from different computer systems. DOS looks kinda hokie. http://www.mobygames.com/game/stunt-track-racer Great game...I want it. Looks like it might have been released first on the Amiga..but I'm not sure. None available at this site. Also it sez they were going to redo it in 2003 as Stunt car Pro for Windows, Playstaion and XBox, but dropped the project in 2005. Darn. Hey how about The Winter Games and Olympic Games on the ol C64! I was a master at that ski and shoot deal.
Yea I remember the winter games vaguely but i can't remember if i sucked or was good at it lol. I wish there was an amiga emulator that could run off of cd in a playstation 2, that way i could play the amiga games on my tv, and without using my computer.
Just plug this puppy into your TV and go!!!! Or how bout this set up? These are today's prices by the way, can you believe they're still going for 2 grand!!! http://www.softhut.com/cgi-bin/test/Web_store/web_store.cgi?page=index.html&cart_id=4964924_15524 Plus the Amiga Forever emulator for the PC is around $60.00
