i/ve been sick for a while, over a month in dec. & then i got better for about a week and now im sick again with a cold/flu. my bfs house is so nasty, theres mouse droppings in the kitchen which have been mostly cleaned. i need to finish cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, & living room. i think thats part of the reason why ive been sick, but are there alternative ways to boost my immune system to fight disease? i take vitamins & do yoga & meditate. i also try to fix all of my own food (mostly pastas w/ lots of tomatos, garlic, & onions). what else can i do?

Well you can boost your immune system by -

Eat a variety of foods to give your body the best possible odds of
obtaining all of the necessary nutrients for good health

    a diet rich in
fruits, veggies, and whole grains offers the best supply of nutrients

adding broccoli and sweet potatoes to your diet, both are great
sources of vitamin A which works to supercharge your immunity and
prevent infections by maintaining the body’s barriers (skin, lungs
and the epithelial linings of the throat and mouth

Take time to enjoy a cup of green tea. The benefits are threefold

Drink plenty of water! We all know water is important for
hydration but did you know that moist membranes fend off germs? Block
out germs by drinking at least eight, 8-ounce glasses a day

yeah, rat poop & rat dander are two really BAD allergens so maybe you're having a rxn to the cleaning you've been doing
try boosting your immune system with a good diet (above suggestions are good)
onions are an immune super food! try sauteing them with whole cloves of garlic & LOTS of curry powder or just turmeric (which is very good to boost the immune system). what about other herbs like echinacea, astragalus, cayenne, horseradish? & if you're having a lot of mucus then avoid foods that aggravate like dairy, sugar, & oj
hope this helps & that you get well soon!

Drink a lot of water! Drink more water that any other liquid and make sure you are getting at least 7 hours of sleep. How do I know this? I work in a ER and most of our patients are complaining of cold/flu like symptoms and we tell everyone the same thing to do and it works. Hope you feel better................
