He'd be a Republican. He'd also sue anyone who tried to remind him he once was a kiddie diddler who supported NAMBLA.
I actually wonder sometimes what he would really think of our society today. So much has changed since he was in action and since his suicide. I really doubt that he would look at the world and think that it's current condition was inevitable. The things out there today are constantly poisoning our environment, politics, bodies and minds. Our consumerist culture has only expanded in the last 2 decades and continues to grow because of the media's influences, which are destroying the kinds of values that people like him held close during the sixties and early seventies. What we need now is people to rise up again from these corporations and corruptions and get the messages out like he worked so hard to do. Some wouldn't say that he did a helluva lot for society's views but I sure like to believe he did! Alrite, that was a bit of a ramble, and I got off what I was trying to say... I just think that if he were still alive today, he would not just sit back and watch the news that we do, he would be in the news, getting the messages out and trying once more to make a differance in the way we view our world.
A republican? Based on what... your fowl mood or shallow ignorance? When Abbie Hoffman died (some believe he killed himself) he was anything but a republican. He had a best selling book out (Steal This urine Test), and he had mellowed ot a lot, and being Abbie Hoffman, the famous radical, he could afford to. If Abbie Hoffman were alive today, at 70 years old, you can almost guarantee that he would not be out radicalizing and doing the Barnum and Bailey theatrics that made him famous, because people change with age. They season, mellow, get a deeper and broader perspective. As for the republican stuff, and the nambla reference, it is all so juvenile and moronic that...well... why should I even continue? Abbie Lives!!!
They do? Only speaking from experience: We acted, we saw some change, we "dropped out" and sat back watching the rest of the world go by as we worked on ourselves, learned to survive, grew a garden, and raised our families. We watched from the bleachers and saw energy fade to apathy, we witness the world falling apart a piece at a time, and now, older and wiser, we want to creat change ALL OVER AGAIN, but this time a more spectacular one. The only thing lacking is the spokespeople. The ones who follow in the footsteps. The NEW ones in the news. I know they're out there somewhere. It IS time. It could be anybody, maybe YOU? :X
and jerry will never be a wall street exutive.Let's give the dead a chance to make up their own minds.None of us can really say one way or the other.
A lot of us were 'taken out' to stop us from spreading the message. There were also a lot that surcomed to the pressure and ust simply wanted off the bus, or came so close to narvana that they decided not to come back. They took it as far as they could, it takes a lot of energy to change a nation, or a world. We faught with every fiber of our being. The Abby Hoffmans, the Tim Learys, even the Emmitt Grogans-Kenny Wisdoms. All of us right down to the street hippies taking blows from the Man. With ur babies coming we had to get them out of the line of fire. We spread out to the country where we could live off the land and raise our children and teach them the way of Love and Peace. Abby would for sure be in the country on a farm away from all the BS of politacial mish mash. He would be writing more books to help guide the youth of our country away from war and greed. I believe that our heros from the 60-70s went as far as they could go. They learned so much and lived so hard and fast because they had so little time to get the message out the window before it closed with the ears of our young ones coming up behind. Listen to EM's wise words. She like a lot of us here has 'been there and done that and have the t-shirt to prove it'. Abby was nobodys fool. We all find out the Truth when it's all said and done. Chose your words wisely as not to tred heavily on someones grave. May Peace and Love be your strength sh
Hey Carol, We teach as well as learn, we learn everyday.. our message is as strong as it ever was..we are still toughing out hoping for the sun to shine on all mankind and peace rain high. We still hold our Freak Flags High and wave them as we boldly go forward. We stand here in our tye-dyes with our hearts reaching out to the Likeminded. We come to comfort and share what we have gained in knowledge and love. We scream it with our refusal to bow down to any Man/Woman and keep the faith that we were honored to hold and to pass on as the firestick burns brightly showing the way. Abby carried the fire as long as he could.. he Was a human being with all the frailities of what that brings. The strenght it took for him and ones like him to step up to the plate and take a swing is the kind of courage that motivated others into thinking and doing for themselves. One at a time joining together we will concure the Beast. sh
Then there was my buddy wino. All he did was get drunk.Spent some time in Folsom.Probably there now if he ain't dead.Didn't give a shit about you or me.All he wanted was to his personal freedom and the right to be a fuckup. He was good at it too.Who knows where Abbie'd be today, time and cosmos have a way of changing everyone.Good morning ladies...
GM Gate, WE all fuck up, that's how we learn. But the ones of us that are left that did survive have a foot in the door. We at least acknowledge the need for change and the need for Unity. We come here seeking it and giving it to reach more and more of us. Some of us choose not to see, it's to hard to open ones eyes and not see the pain and suffering of humanity. Some choose to drown the pain. Some decide to end it, some carry on with the firestick. We each have our own path to follow. Blessed Be sh
i grew up a few miles from where abbie grew up .........the great big changes that they tried to bring about were done in some ways ..a lot of the laws were softened and if you look at today ..some things that would have put you in jail for a long time are now not even looked at ...there have been changes but not enough yet ..
