My dog just ate the inside of my car. I am so pissed off now. She actually ripped the fabric on the ceiling apart, it's hanging down in shreds. We left her for about 10 minutes while we went to the shop.
I don't really know what to do, because sometimes she waits for a couple of hours at home, and is a little angel, at other times she'll behave like a monster when you leave her for 15 minutes. Any advice?:( I love that dog so much, but I really find it hard to deal with this, as I don't have the money at the moment to get the car sorted again. *sigh*

have you thought about adopting a friend for her? all dogs get lonely when their people leave and some just are more showy about it. maybe if you got her a friend it would help the lonliness and give her someone to play with/sleep with, etc while you are gone. my dog daisy was an only dog for 8 years....7 months ago i brought lily home from the shelter and ever since daisy has just been overjoyed. i can tell it helps alot that lily is there when im gone to work untill 6pm everyday. and i actually thought daisy was not going to be happy about it because prior to lily (with the exception of an ex neighbors shitzu) she hated other dogs.....but i think she is grateful to have a friend. plus i think dogs are happy to have a friend on "their leve", you know what i mean? someone they can ruffhouse with and all that. i liken it to a child who, even though they are happy with the love from their parents, still needs friends their own age.......

I'm sure she would be calmer with another dog around, but it's not an option right now, as we live in a tiny flat. Also, we don't even leave her for that long, the longest time she has ever been on her own was maybe 3 hours! I want to be able to trust my dog not to wreck everything while I'm gone, there must be another way than just getting a second dog. Thanks for the advice, but I think it's a bad idea to get a second animal if you a. have no space and b. can't afford it.

well lily is like 10lbs and smaller than my cat so she really doesnt take up much space as space was an issue for me as well. anyway, do you leave lots of bones and stuff for her to chew? i leave a whole pile practically of rawhided and stuff like that so if bordem gets to them they have something to chew on and keep them busy. lily is homewrecker...since we brought her home we've had to rip out the carpet in our place, replace our porch screens three times...among other things. the rawhides seem to keep her pretty busy.

We tried that too, she won't touch anything till we're back, even though she usually goes mad for them. :(
