this forum is so full of creativity, i love coming here and looking at everyone's stuff. but i know not everyone is able to post their creations, so just out of curiosity, what does everyone make? and why do you craft? as for me i now mainly make candles. i have a little business that keeps me busy enough that i had to let my website and everything i did for that go for a little while. i also make a lot of soap and knit whenever i get the chance. i sew when i need something or when i feel like it, and will probably be getting back into it when it warms up a little bit so i can make me some much needed new clothes and i also do hemp, peyote stitches, and other random crafty things from time to time. i make stuff because i would go crazy if i didn't, heheh. also i believe strongly in doing as much as you can for yourself, and giving as little as possible to big corporate stores. i would love to one day live in the middle of nowhere with my own big garden and animals, and make or trade for most of what i need and if there is something i am looking for that i don't have the skills for, or don't have the time for, i try to find a little business that does to support it. so how bout you?
I'll share my current ideas... I'm in the process of starting my own website. I sew clothing. I sew patchwork things but honestly I got a little bored so I got creative and started drawing my own designs up. Most of them turned up punk-ish, I think my boyfriend is my inspiration on all this. I'm thinking of trying this kind of venture for awhile... design and sell whatever crazy thing I can come up with whatever style it turns up. I'm going to be screenprinting on things too. Chris (my boyfriend) is an art major in school so hes constantly drawing up new things. Hes going to be designing the screenprinted patterns and designs I do. I might do some fun maternity clothes too because I'm tired of all the frump wear, lol. So yea... I'll let you guys know when the sites up and I'll share the link with you so you can help me out and critique.
painter & photographer, working on a nice (ie sellable) way to blend them. (thank you Scramble Campbell for the direct order) My craftiness leaves a bit to be desired, but I live with a dye artist, and after 11 years I can do the basics in a pinch. my most painful craft memory was the run of Phish shirts in '95. I have made soap, candles, bath products and pottery for gifting and self-sufficiency reasons. I also bake for the same reason. I'd love to get to the point where I made a small living off the art & I'd love to create an arts/ crafts space fpr the public.
earthy mama ~ it's good to see you posting again (have i just been missing them?) and i can't wait to see your site. i hear ya about patchwork getting a little boring and drumminmama ~ i can't paint and i don't know the least about photography, i'd like to see some of your work if you'd like to post it. everyone else ~ let's hear what you do!
i do a little of this and a little of that but i do a lot of crochet. i do it to make somthing unique and cheap. i dont know what else i would do, im always thinking of new things to make and ways to do things.
i make cushion characters because i like designing and drawing cool little dudes and i have seen these expensive cushions in the shape of like animals and stuff in the shops and i thought 'i can do that'! also people like me to make little cushions of their pets because they like to have them as decoration or whatever. anyway, always looking for cusomers: www.sukins.co.uk
I sew. mostly for my son and myself because we need clothes. I also make things for gifts. I knit a bit, but I'm not very good at it. I also do macrame when I need a plant hanger of want a new bracelet. I did a lot more macrame in the 60's than I do now. I have made candles and I made soap once. I've done herbal body products. My most recent herbal blend was a spray to scare away the invisible spiders and other scary things in my three year old's bedroom. Worked like a charm. When he's afraid he sprays the scary things away and sleeps like a baby. I would go crazy if I didn't have some sort of creative outlet. Sewing crafting keeps me sane. Now if that darn job didn't just get in my way all the time. Kathi
Odd as it may sound, and I know it's not much of a "craft", I rubber stamp - usually greeting cards, birthday cards, get well cards. A friend of mine has very patiently taught me how over the past few years. I do it mostly as a sort of therapy, but it's a great chance to see how expressive I can be.
I have been doing decoupage and mosaics..a bit of sewing. I want to get back into batiks and candlemaking. I haven't done that in eons. I draw occationally and play around with photography but I'm limited in my ability but its theraputic an isn't a struggle for room to create like alot of my other projects are. My new sweety is a screenprinter soooo....maybe I will learn that as well after he gets here and settles in.
I started making my own jewelry line about two years ago. I was inspired by my father asking me if I had ever seen my (dead) grandmothers crackle marble jewelry she used to make. I started with simple crackle marble jewelry and expanded into fused glass, wire wrapping and polymer clay. Within the last two years... I've picked up 27 stores and 6 art galleries worldwide. It's kinda weird... everyone finds me and wants my work. I do my work full time and am one of the lucky few that can do this. I also came out with a few of my own products that I solely sell. I figured if I turned it over to some large company... I'd get screwed on way or another. Anyway... I do it for money and pleasure. Matthew www.createapendant.com
Well, Julie (my wife) loves to sew. I love to paint and draw. We started our homebusiness so we could sell our works. When it comes to sewing Julie knows that being what the fashion industry dictates as "above average weight", she specializes in plus sizes. She dose make smaller sizes as well. Right now she is working on a patch hoodie to add to the site. We are having problems with the site. The host won't allow me to upload anything. So if you go, please bear in mind that there are link and image problems. Our ultimate goal is to get our business established and going good enough that in 10 years we can sell this home and build a dome house out on our ranch (Off the grid of course), the only money we'll need will come from the site. Plus leasing the land to ranchers. We wil lalso have a green house to grow our food. With purchases from our site, it brings us one step closer. We also plan on holding classes on self-sufficient living and have a camp ground for people to camp primitavely. Yeah we have a plan, and we plan on making it work.
I went to your site and I love those! They're absolutely adorable and I love that you'll make customs, too. If I can get a means of paying online, I think I'll definitely be back to your site.
