There is an old Arabic saying that I think carries so much meaning in this rapidly decaying world, and that is "The darkest time of the night occurs just before the crack of dawn." And I think that this is true to the world today. It is ravaged with pollution, war, genocide, starvation, inequality, and alienation from humanity like it has never been before. Are we on the brink of destruction? yes, unfortunately we are, but the coming dawn, I believe, is that the destruction will not be complete, and once it happens, we will be given the golden gift to start anew. I believe that this night will become much blacker before the dawn, but we must believe in tommorow. I'm sure this sounds bleak, but the truth is that most people will not abandon this self-destructive consumer culture until they are forced to (the upcoming oil crash I believe will be the death of it), and unless that changes, destruction will happen. I hope and pray that the world will dodge its own destruction, but if it does not, I hope and pray that they will leanr their lessons and implement them in the new begining.
Well said, and i believe you are right in believing in the positive, for it always prevails eventually. i would like to add my opinion (and it is always just a matter of opinion) that if there were any time to be alive on the planet, it is now. There are so many reasons why this is the best era for a human to live, to have a chance to be pain free, and persecution free. Because, while there have always been horrible inhumanities committed to other humans, in every era, we now have much more hope of escaping from tyrants, and finding refuge in other lands. We, as a collective race of humans now have life saving and birth defect correcting interventions that never existed before. Just the simple fact of dentistry is a major improvement in quality of life for billions. Can you even fathom what kind of pain it must have been to have ones tooth pulled out with no novacain? Or how about a simple amputation? Lets remember how surgery can now repair devestating facial birth defects such as cleft pallettes, that long ago doomed a baby to death and a life of misery, with absolutely no hope...add to that the advancements of caring for just about every other handicap, from blindness, to deafness to schizophrenia. Insane asylums aren't what they used to be! And hey, there's no more Inquistion to fear, no more public burnings at the stake for speaking ones mind....misery causing lifestyles such as being battered to death but tyrant spouses is a much more solvable problem, homosexual, and transsexual folks can live in relative peace compared to even a few decades ago. Yes, the list is long of social, and environmental problems, but i for one am grateful to God for letting me have my consciousness here on earth now, and not stuck in say, 1350, or even 1962! Life is always, on some level, improving, evolving and perfecting. It's the nature of the universe. And the bottom line for me at least is looking forward to leaving this planet completely when i die and existing in a much more enjoyable dimension! aka the astral realm aka heaven! In the meantime, i am with you; consume less and love alot more! peace!
Oh totally, we have the potential to live in the best age possible, and yet we live carelessly, and so this era with all its benefits is completely unstable. if we lived responsibly (by we i mean everyone), the world will never be better, but since we live so hedonisticly and selfish, the world has never been worse. extinction feels imminent
Wow those were pretty profound words, and im glad they were shared. Yes, i do believe our "golden gift" will come. As you said, things will get a LOT worse before the dawn. But i have faith. All we can do for now is keep that faith, and stick together through the dark times. Xx
I agree with you too. Every word. This IS a special time to be alive...probably more special than we realise at the moment. I have a feeling its a huge marker in Earths history... My mother was born in the 40s and assures me that life has improved dramatically in a lot of ways since she was younger. Mainly in the way people interact with eachother...its almost as if were evolving. Somethings opening up inside us...were becoming wiser, in the truest sense of the word. Were losing a lot of that useless fear, learning about tolerance and acceptance...and its absolutely glorious to share this experience with people. Ive often thought about why i was born in this era, and have come to the conclusion it is to learn and share these things, and to enjoy the experience. I do think however that this kind of evolution has been either too rapid or too intense for many people, and has caused fear, anxiety, violence and selfishness. These are extremely difficult lessons were currently learning, at times contradictory and near impossible to comprehend...and many are getting lost. But with enough love we can get through, and will. Anyway im rambling. I agree with you both and youve both cheered me up great posts Love-Maxi.Xx
Mark the name Stephen Harper....thats the name of the shadow that will consume the formerly Great White North. The night is getting darker, so look to the east for the crack of dawn.
well i don't think we are living in the best of all possible times by a long shot. but i do believe there are better times to come then any we've ever seen or immagined in the past. and i believe togather as a species, or even as a web of life, we are going to create them, pretty much ourselves, with a little help and inspiration from our nontangible friends perhaps, but it will be our own tangable hands and minds doing the work, even if the reason we do so is because we're going to have to just to survive. =^^= .../\...
I think the next generation will see either the world going to hell, or a new golden age. it is up to this generation as to which will happen. never has the world been at a more crucial time as this...so dont be bored.
