Where is the Joanna love? Yes, her voice is different. But her songs are so beautiful. Any other fans? And to those fans: favourite songs?
joanna is fantastic! her voice is wonderful in my opinion...not that its a great voice, but it fits wonderfully with her great harp/piano playing and terrific lyrics. my favorite tracks are bridges and balloons, inflammitory writ, peach, plum, pear...well, basically everything off of her debut album. she needs to make a new album
God, I think her and Devendra Banhart are terrible. They have those quivering voices that just sound so ugly. I listen to a lot of not such great singers, but these two are just horrible no matter which way you look at it. I'm not crazy about the harp, so there is some bias there...But, god, why the hell is Devendra so liked? His voice is laughable, his guitar playing is maybe mediocre at the most, and instead of putting 18 shitty songs on one cd, he should cut the number down and make better quality songs on that shitty four-track of his. Sorry
It's okay, I still love you. Joanna was an aquired taste for me. Sometimes I have to turn the songs down because the notes are really really awful sounding. But I love the lyrics. And I am a harp fan. Not huge on Devendra, though.
mm, so lucky and devendra and joanna are both pretty great to me. It was instant love from the first second i heard devendra - joanna goes in my 'she'll grow on you' folder...and favourite song of hers would have to be bridges and balloons.
she has been growing on me, but i do prefer banhart and josephine foster. but seriously, doesn't anybody else get tired of guitars all the time? i do.
sometimes...thats a reason why i love joanna, her harp skills are fantastic! her voice doesnt really bother me, although sometimes im just not in the mood...on songs like "sadie", she gets a little to crazy, but most times i love it but with devendra and josephine, i love them mostly for their voices...well, i love the way devendra plays his guitar. its normally very simple, but it just sounds so great!
In my opinion, her voice ruins what would otherwise be amazing songs. She needs to be in a band and play the harp and get someone else to sing because I can't listen to it. The first time I heard her I thought it was Lisa Simpson... I'm not joking.
