I was passed by DMV as being able to drive. So now I have the problem of insurance, I need to get it. And the problem is, if they see my vision is less then good, they might not insure me. So can I just not tell them? Is that legal to do? Can they do some kind of background check to find out? Would they do it?

Well, if the DMV says you can drive in your condition, they should cover you. There might be some restrictions or a bit of an increase in your rate.... I don't know.

You really should be honest about even that. They will probably still insure you, but if you get into an accident and they find that out and you didnt tell them, there is a chance that they can deny you coverage. So you might as well just tell 'em.
