I'm finally getting ready to go to college.....took me fuckin long enough. As you know if you've applied, your highschool transcript needs to get sent with your application. As controlling pricks, my highschool insisted that I not send my materials separate from theirs, they want to send everything themselves, with your postage money and envelopes and such. I said alright.

Here's where the horror starts. So before vacation, I gave both my Wheaton and Vassar College applications to the school to be sent out. They get sent. Hunky dory, right? WRONG. They sent my WHEATON application to VASSAR, who sent it back to me today. After a series of phone calls, I've found that NO ONE -- not the SCHOOL, not WHEATON, not VASSAR -- knows what happened to my Vassar Application OR the accompanying $55 check. NOW I'VE MISSED THE VASSAR JANUARY 1 DEADLINE AND UNLESS SOMEONE SUCKS SOMEONE OFF, I AM FUCKED.

AND THAT'S NOT ALL. Oh, no. I also gave them my USC application on Friday, and was told it would be sent out the same day. Whew -- I made it, several days ahead of the January 10 deadline. Hunky dory THIS time, right? WRONG AGAIN! AS OF 1:30 PM TODAY, IT STILL WAS NOT SENT. AS OF 1:30 PM ON JANUARY 9, 2005, AN APPLICATION THAT IS DUE JANUARY 10, 2005 (TOMORROW!!) WAS NOT SENT! BRILLIANT!

A lot of bad things have been happening to me the past two weeks. They just keep getting worse, apparently.

    1) Who cashed the $55 cheque to Vassar?

    2) Too late for you, but others might consider "delivery confirmation" from the post office.

    3) Also too late for you, but your high school is not going to college. Its no wonder that its less important to them than to you.

    4) Can you get something in writing from your HS to send with your late applications? Maybe if your lawer asked the HS really nicely they might be able to do something.

I don't know if anyone's cashed the check yet. As controlling pricks, though, the high school's office insists on using their own methods of sending things. I doubt they'd waste their *precious* time.

I'm going into that godforsaken place first thing tomorrow morning in hopes that they can get this shit cleared up. I really hope Vassar still considers me, because I really liked that place.

That certainly blows balls. Well, at least you got a learning experience (though a crappy one) out of this. MikeE provided some great tips. Keep us updated on what's going on, liz. Best of luck. And I know this doesn't help as much, but shit like this happens to all of us someway or another.

I think they've mostly got it sorted out....Vassar was kind enough to give me an extention of the deadline, and the office people are feeling rather pathetic and apologetic....I hope this does turn out well after all.

Your transcripts are legally yours, just tell them that you'll sue if you don't get them, hell, i'd consider a lawsuit already. There are plenty of ambulance chasers out there who'd be willing.

That's good to hear. At least they aren't being assholes about it. I've been in situations where I've greatly needed someone's help, and all I'd come across are arrogant dickheads.
