So will be getting more work done on my arm soon and I have never given a tip to my tat guys...I recently read somewhere that I should. So have you ever tipped? How much do you tip? Im now feeling so bad since I never tipped and I plan on it in the future but I want to know whats appropriate. Thanks for any advice!
I didn't tip. I just paid 100 dollars for the tattoo, I think that's enough i'm honouring his work by taking good care of the tattoo. besides, since i got the tattoo i'm already poor
pppbbbbt! most shops take 40% - 60% of the money, the artist rents space there. you are benefiting from taking good care of the tattoo - not him. if you like the work, and if you want more work from the same guy, i'd say tip. tipping is always appreciated and REMEMBERED. tips don't always have to be cash, either - my hubby once got a beautiful torqouise ring for recoloring a tattoo on a buddy of his, his buddy does lawn work and has had it recolored 3 times for free. that is an example of an extra special tip - but he's gotten all kinds of stuff instead of cash as tips. usually my hubby gets $20 extra, but he usually does about 50% more work on a tattoo than planned. he's quite intense when he gets going...
ive always tipped about 20%.........i dunno, i guess thats average but i'd rather tip too much then tip too little. and of all the piercings ive had done ive only tipped the piercer once...the last time i got pierced. before that i just never thought about tipping a piercer, i dont know why. maybe becasue it only takes them less than 10 min to do the job.....but i do tip them now.
I've got four piercings from the same person, tipped, bought their little products. So now i get discounts on jewlery and larger gauges, and speical complemtery gifts like keychains hahaha! but my piercing sessions take more then 10mins cause we talk about random stuff so yeah.
I've never tipped. I didn't realize it was customary... I've only ever tipped people to do with food (waiters, coffee shop folks etc), hair dressers, and taxi drivers
Yes, always. But then I've always felt he has undercharged me, so was, in part, trying to make up some of the difference.
i always tip. usually a standard $20. its a service industry. unless youre getting tattoo'd by the shop owner, the artist puts the the money you pay him in the regester. its kind of like not tipping a waiter. youre still paying for the food, but not the service? in the industry, tipping is seen as an approval of the whole experience. plus, the more you tip, the better of a deal they may cut you in the future
i think the oddest tip my hubby ever got was a case of beans. but he absolutely loved those beans, our neighbor lugged a case of 'em back from texas for him after she found out he liked them so much. he did a cute little froggie on her ankle - kinda nice seeing a grandma with a new tattoo
I had the shop owner do my tat & I tipped $50. I usually tip for piercings too depending on how long they take or how difficult they are. I've known him awhile & I didn't want to feel like I was screwing him over. He looked suprised by the amount though. My tat was a lil under $200 so it was like roughly 25%. We also had a 5 hour session so I thought that was worth it.
i definately always tip. how much depends on how much it was to begin with . the tattoo that i just got was $275, so i gave her 300. she was working on my coverup so that's always harder, and she did a wicked job, so it was definately worth it.
Yeah, same here. It makes sense though after all we tip out hair dressers and the standard tip that seems to extend to any service industry is 15-20% Man, the more I think of it the more I realize how many people that perform personal services do recieve tips at least some of the time but its usually saved for doing an outstanding job or a way to show appreciation for extending themselves more than they had to.
Definately gotta tip. I tipped $25, but that was back in the 90's, so you should probably tip a lot more nowadays.
I always tip my piercer, I try for at least 15%. I just went in yesterday to buy new jewelry and he offered to put it in, and gave me balls for all my ball-less earings for free. So I tipped him for that too.
