all the people i look up to are dead... this fucking sucks.. i was gonna do a role model essay, then i was like hmm.. jim morrison, dead. hendrix dead, lennon dead, nowell dead, bob marley dead.. everyone is fucking dead. but what i noticed is that all my role models are musicians.. peace, jared
Yeah. Kinda gets me down sometimes when I listen to bands and I'm like, God, I'm never gonna hear these guys live. But, whatever. I have more significant reasons to be depressed and better reasons to be happy.
What about Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler, Eric Clapton, Ozzie Freakin Osbourne! You've got Slash still around and pleanty of other goodn's to do your essay on. Trystn
Look at it this way, if they were still alive 80% of them would be washed up, fat and it would be sad to aknowledge you ever liked them.
ya my parents are always reminding me how all the people i look up to, as do you, are dead whenever i try telling them some crazy story i read ro something about hendri xor osmething man
Haha, cool pic! Anyway Pink Floyd (uh, btw which one is Pink?) Neil Young... Oh yeah, I really dug Cobain! I use to crank it up in the OR when I worked as a surgical technician and was getting ready for a case. One of the docs had to listen to Led Zep (Now there ya go, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page also) and that was cool, but I couldn't get enough of Teen Spirit. Really got the blood pumping! Anyway, why don't you guys get some real heros? John Lennon, now there was a guy who would have been worth writing about. He actually did try to practice what he preached, but even he admitted his song lyrics were mostly just full of crap. He found a kid living in the hedges by his English mansion one time who worshipped Lennon and told him his lyrics had changed his life. Lennon said, "So this is how it's ended up for you then. Filthy, hungry and livin in me bushes?" Lennon told him to grow up, then invited him in for dinner and a jam session with George Harrison and some other famous dude. They rehearsed Imagine. Real Heros. Who is it that you know other than musicians who really stand for something important, who stand for what you believe in? Peace - Trystn
Okay what about.. hmmmm, let me think now... Well, Howard Stern. He's done alot for radio (hmmph!) And then there is Angelina Jolie, apparently she's done alot for Brad. But really, those two have helped out some good causes. Pitt is a master of privacy, you would be getting a scoop if you could get some low down on him. Uhhh then there's, well okay I'll say it. I really think Shepard Smith on Fox news is cool! There were all those reporters on the front lines, your uncle Steve in the Marines, or Aunt betty down at the bugger barn who give you free food. C'mon guys and girls, there has to be some contemporary non-rockstar person you find some redeeming qualities in, primarily that they are alive! Let me know, I'm an old man still trying to figure crap out for myself. Peace - Trystn
Use what they gave you, and be a new hero, thats the circle. they came to inspire with their music, so now it's your turn. Now get out there and show em what ya got!
lets see, some of my role models: Vladimir Lenin..... dead. Anton LaVey.... dead. John Lennon... dead. Rodney Dangerfield.. dead. Randy Rhoads. dead. Zach De La Rocha..... has anybody seen him lately?
I've always looked up to Albert Hofmann (not Abbie Hoffman), as a role model. He's recently turned 100 and is still around. He's invented the strongest mind searcher known to man, and is quite respectful to Mother Earth. Why are all of your role models musicians anyway?
is still alive!!!!!! woo! ringo's not dead paul's not dead jimmy page isn't dead but just because your role models are dead doesn't mean they can't still be your role models
i never understood the need for role models, or idols. I never had any. There are poeple i think are cool but I dont look up to anyone. It seems a bit....er..silly?
