I got this book for christmas and I really liked it. It is haunting and dark and is written beautifully. It is the kind of story that I will remember for a long time. Anyway just wondered what everyone else thought of it. If you haven't read it, I recommend it! xx
Yeh the book was turned into a film but I havent seen it yet, I can't decide whether I should or not because I don't want to ruin the imagery that I have of the story! I think curiousity will probably get the better of me though. What is the film like?
The film is really good. I can't make a good comparison cause I haven't read the book, but I love the movie. Own it actually. It's very depressing obviously, but well done.
The film is actually very similar to the book... obviously you don't get all the senses that are involved in a novel (ie the smell of the girls bathroom) but otherwise it's pretty good
They're both good, but I think I prefer the book (even though I saw the film first actually). Probly just becuase I like imagining stuff for myself though, as the film doesn't leave anything much key out (from memory).
I had to read the book for my honors' English class in college. I thought it was really good - the author has such a unique way of describing things. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. I thought that the movie did a really good job of interpreting the book.
I just finished the book today. I like the way it´s written, 'cause you kinda slide just through it ... lol. I saw the movie twice before I read the book and this time I´m kinda glad I did. Normally I like to read the books first. I couldn´t have enjoyed the book like I did without the images and the feeling of the movie...
great book and movie.. both vivid and insightful. i own both and think everybody should see and read it.
hmm thats a book I'm really intereseted in seeing now, because I've seen the movie. It as so haunting..you know kirsten dunst is actually a pretty decent actress, despite some of the crappy movies she's been in lol
I enjoyed the book although I thought it rather strange somehow. Agree with others here, the writing was very descriptive and conjured images. Worth a read!
Another great read that I enjoyed but it has definitely been a while since I have read it. His other book, "Middlesex" is an interesting book too.
