Well, I don't know about you all, but personally I think Blind Melon is one of the greatest bands ever. If you go beyond their super "pop culture" hit..you will find so much more. Shannon Hoon was such a beautiful person!
If you want to 'get to know' em, check out some of their songs..
they really are an amazing band.
    Check out their website www.blindmelon.com
Doesn't anybody here, feel the way I do?? :p
Does anybody have a band they think I should check out?? I'm always down for new music!

hey whats up! Blind Melon was my favorite rock band of the 90's! Hands down. Every album has like maybe 2 songs that i didnt really care for. they truely kick ass. I always really liked "I wonder" in particular for some reason. They got together a while back to form a new band. The bassist and....guitarist maybe? of melon teamed up with the drummer from pearl jam and they got a new singer that sounds just like shannon. I cant remember the name tho im sorry. Im not quite sure about other bands for you since i dont really listen to much rock anymore. But if you like Blind Melon, i guess you would most likely enjoy Umphreys McGee. Some other artists you may like could be Keller Williams, Les Claypool, or if you really want a cool band to check out (though it isnt rock) you should check out the Jazz Mandolin Project. I realy cant see how anyone wouldnt like them as their music has elements of just about anything. Very unique and cool stuff from them, check em out.
    hope i helped! PEACE
    RIP Shannon

this probly belongs in the music forum but..

i loooove blind melon. i remember first hearing some of their songs and being amazed thinking wow,im not alone, and feeling like i could have wrote the songs. it was like it confirmed who i was and helped me grow through that all. its beautiful music for any depressed or confused or teenager, or any person just feeling down and out as we all sometimes do. its touched a lotta people if you read the tributes about him, and he even saved some suicidal folks.

i cant think of any band like them that could really compare. idk if i would compare them to keller williams at all really. his vibe is compleeeetley different to me. i'd maybe suggest some xavier rudd for something similar to them, but blind melon really was a one of a kind deal.

shannon hoon was really something though, a truly beautiful person. he put eeeeverything he had into his songs. idk how he did it, but all of hisself was right out there in front of everybody... his pain and fears, dreams and hopes, all his heart, his everything. like one of the bandmates says in the dvd, its like he ripped out his gut and a piece of it is on those cds. its almost like you can hear his pain and his soul through his voice, you just know he has it and its all right there, manifested so beautifully and cleary. he was definatley gifted, and very good with writing too. sux it ended early, he seemed like an amazing person with a lot more to give. i wonder if unified theory is any good?

unified theory...thats them. They were ok. Its weird cuz the new singer sounded just like shannon....but you cant fill those shoes. It just doesnt compare but it still was a lot better than i thought it would be.

Shannon was an awesome artist. saw them live 2 times. i so much wanted a tattoo like the one around his wrist. liek so many other greats he died before he should of...but poisoned by his insides.

    don't do drugs people...just don't do it.

I absolutely adore their music. The 'blind melon' (self titled) album is pretty much always on my stero and mp3 player. I love it.
