I just read that Sentator Ted Kennedy has a dog named Splash. That's one of the most innapropriate things I've read in a long time.

As one commentator put it, "That's like the Unibomber having a dog named Boom."

I think so, but that's not really the same thing. Maybe if Clinton's dog had been named "Hummer"

probably. google 'ted kennedy' 'drunk driving' and 'manslaughter river'

chappaquidic? is that the spelling? or is it the wrong thing entirely?

hell, my own social reference catalogue in my brain seems to have been yanked out with the placenta. i swear, i lose 50 iq points with the birth of each child.

    from wikipedia...
[Mary Jo] Kopechne died in Chappaquiddick, Massachusetts when a car driven by [United States] Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy, in which she was the passenger, went off a bridge and overturned into a pond....Kennedy managed to escape from the submerged car, but he left the scene and inexplicably did not report the incident or Kopechne's wherabouts. The next day authorities discovered Kennedy's car and recovered Kopechne's body. Though Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury, several details of Mary Jo Kopechne's death remain a mystery. (See "Chappaquiddick" section below.)

Basically, Ted left this girl to die, and then used his family's political power to prevent an investigation of the incident. He's now a powerful US Senator.

    nice.

I saw this when I was searching for the information above. It made me laugh. (original site)

If Ted Kennedy drove a Volkswagen, he'd be President today
    It floats.
The way our body is built, we'd be surprised if it didn't. The sheet of flat steel that goes underneath every Volkswagen keeps out water, as well as dirt and salt and other nasty things that can eat away at the underside of a car. So it's watertight at the bottom. And everybody knows it's easier to shut the door on a Volkswagen after you've rolled down the window a little.
That proves it's practically airtight on top. If it was a boat, we could call it the Water Bug. But it's not a boat, it's a car.
And, like Mary Jo Kopechne, it's only 99 and 44/100 percent pure. So it won't stay afloat forever. Just long enough. Poor Teddy. If he'd been smart enough to buy a Volkswagen, he never would have gotten into hot water.

unless this dog is now like 30 years old, I would say that the dog was named Splash several years after the fact. This happened when Ted was young (in his 20s, right?)... and now he is in his 50s (?).

Well yeah, it wouldn't be in poor taste if he named the dog prior to the incident.
